I don't know why it took me so long to come up with this... but wouldn't it be neat if they made a module for the Storm and Thunder that had the new 4-core P7 emitter in it? I suspect that they could maintain the same output levels with marginally better efficiency and a single large reflector instead of 3 smaller ones. Plus, the emission pattern from the SSC emitters is easier to control than a Cree. Might allow for better throw if they wanted. Personally I hope they release one similar to the medium stipple in my FiveMega mag reflector... whether SSC or incan light source, that gives a nice high-lux area in the middle which slowly fades to spill as opposed to the usual sharp transition to spill I usually see with Cree lights.
As long as the parallel arrangement of the cores doesn't cause any problems, they might end up being more reliable under hard use than the 3xCree arrangement they have at present... less complex, easier to assemble, less to go wrong. Anybody see any downsides?
