If you were to give one flashlight from your current collection away to a friend, what would it be and why?

On my order of Lummi's I got an extra Raw NS for a buddy. He likes this kind of stuff, but can't afford one.
He has no idea, but it is in the mail today. Hopefully he will get it by the weekend.
Yes I will fill him in on the perils of Li-ion batteries :eek:

Peak Matterhorn, Pacific 2x AAA body, or any Peak CR123 head on a 2xAA body.
Jetbeam Jet 1 Pro
I feel best offering up my AA and AAA battery lights to those that are flashlight challenged strictly due to lower cost of the batteries and the ease of attainment.

Actually, I hope that Jetbeam continues the E3p series with a warm emitter because I feel that that light is a great straightforward and reliable user for most folks.

Fenix E01, because:

#1 - it takes common batteries that a non-flashaholic will always have.

#2 - it runs at top performance (no diminished brightness) on that one AAA alkaline for what seems like forever and a day.

#3 - It has the perfectly simple UI - meaning they might actually use it.

#4 - It is perfect for EDC size, so by ideally having this in time of need they might actually find value in the concept of having light when you need it (future flashaholic).

(btw, if I "owned" an ITP EOS single mode, that would have likely been my answer for many of the reasons listed above and more).

Good call on the single mode iTP EOS A3 or maybe the A2 (if they like the AA format) If only they had a single mode A2.

I have given away TWO flashlights in the last year to friends in need

Two Fenix L2D Q5 (2AA) flashlights were donated to the cause. One was for a friend of mine that really could use a good helmet light for her bike riding needs. I mounted the L2D on her helmet, loaded it with Eneloops (of course) and showed her how the UI works. She loved it and we went out riding together so to get used to it. She liked the head tight for max, tap the tail switch for strobe and lossen head for low if the batteries start to head south. See says she uses her light all the time for non-biking needs as it is hard to lose a helmet.

The other L2D Q5 went to my brother for a bike handlebar mounted light and a running light. He was blown away with the output of the thing and now can ride or run without worry.

When I sent my brother the L2D Q5, it was MY bicycle helmet light. What to do? What to do! I bought a Quark Turbo 2AA with XP-G and is screams and gives me what I want. It really weighs a lot so I'm looking at a Peak El Capitan XP-G R5 with narrow optic as a single AA helmet light.

My brother was so impressed with the Cree Q5, he went out and bought a Mag 3D with the Rebel inside on a Black Friday sale. He sent me some beam shots so I'm the vector to spread the disease...

+1 on the Peak....prob. 3 led matterhorn...twist on....twist off- simple.
That and a 4 pack of AAA Eneloops with Eneloop charger.
It is hard to apreciate the quality of a light until you have it in hand.

I have a few embarassing and/or un-needed lights that I wouldn't hesitate to give away to a friend in need: a couple of mini maglights...a DarkOps Hellfighter X-4 (not a bad incan light, despite all the haters:nana:--I bought it as a drop-in host, but never proceeded, so it just sits in a drawer), I also have a bright, ringy, Husky 2D 4Watt LED that never gets used.

Can I be all your Best friends.

I love my lights, all 3 of them, will never part with them.

P.S Send the Flashlights to me ASAP.

I might part with my little Maratac, but only to a friend. This is another of those lights that are sure to please and simple to operate. Then I'd have a reason to get a stainless steel one.

Lets see....A buddy got a Fenix L1D last summer and now he EDC's it all day long, and misses it whenever he doesn't have it on him, and for his son, an ADAP clearance special 2C Luxeon (I think..... found it thru CPFMP Good Deals lovecpf ) And to another friend, a Fenix L1P and now regretting it, I really like the simple single AA form-factor and the build quality. I also gave 2 L1P's away as gifts last year (holidays 2008) and now can't find one for myself. And last weekend, lent out one of my MiniM@g 2AA mod'd with a Terelux, stuffed with AA NihMi's, hope they don't get thrown away :poke: and hope to get it back. And to my other friend's son, a RR K2 lantern with a Cree :D who is brand new to Boy Scouting and LOVES it :D !! And he also got my 3AA M@gLed that I liked, but not that much....heh heh

EDIT:
Oh, if I were to "give away ONE......" guess I go overboard sometimes...

Fenix L1T-V2

those are my best lights that use off the shelf batteries. All my other lights use Lithium cells of some variety, and are not really good for a noob.

I did give a few lights away in 09. I wanted to make sure my sister and nephew has something decent.I gave them both single AA Romisen lights. Not big money but they are good lights.

To a friend at work, I gave an ITP c7 light since I bought 2.It made me feel pretty good about giving those lights as gifts.Pocket knives are also fun to give out to your closest friends.

Umm.. I would say a surefire 6P.

Not a show stopper but still a very valued light by many.

Besides, the mods are endless!

If I had to give one away, would depend on which friend, but I would probably give away my EDC. If its good enough, and reliable enough for me, then that's the absolute minimum I would give to a friend who may need to rely on it some day

Peak lights make wonderful gifts. Idiot proof, bulletproof & beautiful. And very reasonably priced. My family & friends have looted my once fine collection of polished Brass Peaks.

If it were a friend who likes mechanical and technical stuff it would be my Nitecore D10. So business-like and "metalist" looking but with an interesting operating methodology.

For a less technically minded friend who wanted an easy to use simple system it would be my fenix TK20 and given that I hate the "neutral" tint I'd be happy to see the back of it......
