Incidentally Scottm, I´ve gone do some research to the website you provided in the Sanyo cadnica lite.

I didn´t know it had been such a hit for aviation and the military. There is people that still rave over that flashlight. Click in this link for a discussion on it

Yeah, I figured you weren't a Navy guy, but that was one image that came up on Google.

I bet my dad has some of those flashlights, he never thows anything away. I did read that thread when I used the picture, sounds like they've figured out what battery and how to solder it in. It also sounds like they still sell them in Japan and they're quite cheap.
