I\'m a Surefire man!

Just got my first Surefire flashlight, the L4. Goin' Surefire, baby! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

First impressions: nice balance of beam quality, brightness, toughness, pocketability, and light weight. It's not the brightest light I've got, but it's a good amount of brightness with a good amount of flood, and it fits in a pocket! Very nice combination. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've already dropped it on ceramic floor tile, which has got to be a tough challenge for a flashlight, and the only damage was a tiny nick on the rear edge of the head. Very impressive. The switch is fantastic for momentary on, although I wish the click on/off part was less stiff; I can't click it on/off at all with my forefinger, I need to use my thumb. But hopefully that's an issue I can resolve in time, and it doesn't detract much from the overall positive experience.

Anyway, I've never owned a Surefire before, so I'm very pleased with the acquisition and wanted to share the event with you folks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: I\'m a Surefire man!

Milkyspit,

Yes, it's hard to own a SureFire and not be a fan. I believe their lights are works of art, as well as practical tools.

They're very expensive IMO, but they have a quality of excellence that I don't find elsewhere. Glad you like your L4. So far, the L4 is my favorite SureFire.

Re: I\'m a Surefire man!

Congratulations /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Surefires are totaly awesome, no-one else makes a flashlight thats comparable for quality and craftsmanship. I got my second surefire a few weeks ago, and im already in the process of picking a third.
Watch your wallet, it's more addictive than crack /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: I\'m a Surefire man!

surefires are great flashlights.
i now have 4 and need more money to support my addiction
I already have a list of the couple next surefires i need to buy (once i get the money) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: I\'m a Surefire man!

I have to say they are almost too cool to carry. I use an old E2 to walk the dog, leaving my E2e and E2e/KL1 in my home office so I don't damage them! I just changed out the LED in the KL1 to a Q3J, so now it's really fine. SF makes some nice flashlights!

JonSidneyB, Does an ARC AAA LE second count? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

The thing about the SF L4 -- and I mean this totally as a compliment, though it might not sound like one -- is that it's a little boring. It just does what it's supposed to with little fanfare. Clearly very well made, and I continue to be impressed with the low weight of this light (feels like it's HALF the weight of my SL Scorpion, which is comparable size and arguably also comparable brightness, though with a completely different beam pattern), and having a 5-watter in my pocket feels great.

Wait a minute, that last bit sounds a little dirty... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: I\'m a Surefire man!

I for one, am well rounded! Fav LED: LSH-P, fav incandescent: E2e, and soon I will be buying a premium M*g 2D with hotlips, magic resistor, and overdriven 5 watter! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif
After all these purchases, I have become /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/broke.gif.
Well, not really, it's time to start blowing my life savings on premium flashlights!!

Re: I\'m a Surefire man!

I purchased an E1e+KL4 bezel from Dan Legg at "Tactical Warehouse", PLUS an E2e "tube" so I can switch to two #123 lithiums. I decided (since I've built up a nice supply of 123 lithiums) to just keep using the E1e+KL4 with only ONE battery until it showed signs of being used up. So far, there are NO SIGNS of the battery going down and it's been a couple of weeks of nightly use. Last night, I went out late and used my E1e to search the trees around my house for Owls. It had NO problems lighting up the tops of tall trees in my back yard. The only problem was that I took my wife out with me. I noticed her looking at my hands. HUMmmm. Kinda "putting the eye" on my E1e. I put it in my gunsafe last night lest it "disappear" from the nightstand. Sneaky woman! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: I\'m a Surefire man!

I am new to the world of flashlights. You can see by my profile that I've only been a member of CPF for about a month. Stumbling across this site sparked my interest in flashlights.

Anyway, since being introduced to Surefires a month ago, I now own an E2e, E1e, E2o, A2, L4 and a bunch of KL1 heads (some modded, some not). All I can say about Surefires is that they work really well. I wish everything I owned was built as well as my Surefires. They are pricey, but you get what you pay for. Even my non flashoholic friends are impressed when I pull out a Surefire and turn night into day. That's not to say that I don't own other brands of lights. I have Pelicans and Streamlights as well, and I like them, but they are NOT Surefires. If you've ever held and used a Surefire, then you know what I mean.

Re: I\'m a Surefire man!

Tony -- it didn't take you long to get the bug. It looks like you have it as bad as I do. When you begin to talk about holding it, you know you're hooked. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif -- Paul

Re: I\'m a Surefire man!

Paul,
I don't think the gun bug bit me as bad as the flashlight bug did. You wouldn't believe the cr*p I've bought. I have luxeons laying around. Soldering irons. I'm on eBay right now checking out the Metcal equipment. I've sought the services of my gunsmith, who is an excellent machinist with a full service shop. I think about it at night. I can't buy a new light without taking it apart. I hope it wears off soon. Please, HELP ME!!

Re: I\'m a Surefire man!

The L4 is so good that it is the ONLY flashlight that I use regularly that is not custom or modified. That's saying something!

Re: I\'m a Surefire man!

Tony,

You don't need help. You just need the time (and perhaps bucks) to enjoy your new passion. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: I\'m a Surefire man!

This is to the SureFire only devotees, I once thougt that I was exclusively a SureFire man, but I think I have grown. Arcs are good well built lights to. And the workmanship of The Tvord CPF light in front of me right now beats the workmanship of the E2e also sitting before me. I love SureFires and I think all Flashahoics should love them as well. But it seems that some SureFire Fans are SureFire Fanatics and forget all else. I would never tell a SureFire fan to get a cheap light as they would probably only be happy with an expensive light. If you are willing to spend alot, you can find perfect companions to your SureFires.
