I'm suddenly fascinated by very small yet powerful flashlights

Good evening!

I've spent tons of time here, reading information about some of the smaller lights, and I've decided I would like to have one "smallish" light such as the Nitecore D10 or a comparable Fenix, and one ultra-small option like the Wee or Draco/Drake. I started lurking in these forums with no intention to buy any new flashlights, and now I'm afraid I'm going to blow some cash...

Anyway, just thought I'd ask if anyone wants to recommend any other very small but powerful flashlights that I should read about?

Dave

i am the same way.
I can suggest with full confidence,
EagleTac T10c
Nitecore Extreme
Urnabeam Freedom P
Fenix P1d or P2d
Those are the more affordable ones.

Welcome to CPF.

Nitecore, Fenix, and Olight are all considered good values here and make small, single AA or single CR123 lights. I have the Fenix PD20 (CR123) and the Nitecore Defender Infinity (AA). Both are favorite lights of mine. I never go anywhere without one of them.

Fenix LD01 With a 10440 approx 140 lumens on high I believe.

If you're looking for raw power EagleTac is the way to go. I own an EagleTac P10A2 and it's great. For an EDC with more practical low modes, Fenix, Olight, Nitecore are all good options. They are also more compact than the EagleTac.

Eagletac's smaller single cell models (like the P10c, T10c, and P10a) are probably among the brightest in the size range. They aren't unmanageably big, although the T10C is a very awkward looking light.

I would stay away from EagleTac P10A2 for now. Many of us unlucky ones bought one to find out that it is poorly engineered. If you, by chance, drop it, the lense will likely shatter. How is that for the best built flashlight in the world so EagleTac claims.

EagleTac has recently redesigned the head to be more impact resistance. Those with batch code ET689 are these new lights. Most stores will most likely have the older batches with the defective design. I bought mine two weeks ago from Eagletac-store and was unlucky (nothing against the store tho. they can't tell which is which at the moment.) And yes the manufacturer has come out with a fix (or soon to come out), but you will have buy it fix their screw up.

I will have to admit, with the defective design aside, P10A2 is a bright and nice light. Although, the runtime is a tad short. If you are interested in this light, then wait a bit for the newer batches to get filtered to the stores.

Totally. I guess I should have mentioned that it's great, except the lens broke.

If by any chance you want a flashlight that is small, powerful, and really cool, the Lummi Raw Titanium with radioluminescent vials should do the trick. The damned thing looks like a starship reactor core, or something.

Slightly less cool, but just as nice, and easier to get batteries for, is the Arc 6. Mine comes tomorrow. Wee!

On a side note, the product photos for the Arc 6 are possibly the most unappealing photos I've ever seen of it. I was determined not to get one until I stumbled across Orcinus' photos on Flickr, a decision which led me to buy several Fenix lights, which looked to be much nicer by comparison with the Arc 6's product photos. You know, something that shows the diode and reflector would be nice, and maybe something with the optional radioluminescent locator would be good too.

+1.

It's obscenely bright. If you're using it for illuminating areas between 5 and 50 feet away, the 10440-powered LD01 is terrific.

However, I pulled the 10440 out of my LD01 and run it solely on AAA's because it's otherwise too bright for me to comfortably use for close-in tasks.

And if you can afford it, get the Stainless Steel version. IMO, the upgrade is well worth the price difference.

Another vote for the Nightcore Extreme.
It's a good combination of small size, geat output, simple interface, and cool features.

My D10 is a permanent carry item and I was looking at the Drake forever before finally buying one, then another...

My D10 is in my back pocket, Drake worn as a necklace and I also have a couple Arc's and L0D's on me all the time.

If ultra low is something you value, the Drake, Novatac lights and Surefire Titan are some of the best. On the other hand the D10 offers a fairly good low and finally, even though the low is not very, the Fenix L1D/LD10 and P2D/PD20 still remains a favorite of mine. Also check out the LiteFlux LF2x, LF3XT and LF5XT; all great lights with lots of custom setting options and very good low. Actually the LF2x belongs in the list of lights with a very low setting.

So many AAs to choose from. Most of the good ones are from Fenix, Olight, Nitecore...

If CR123A is alright for you, I recommend Dereelight C2H. A true pocket rocket. :) Or LF3XT for it's UI and beautiful beam.

For ultra-small ones, IMHO, Wee & Drake top the chart for the moment. And you might want to take a look at La Petite Killer too.

I EDC D10 and Ti EX10 at the moment. I'm waiting for the release of this Ti AAA from Horus, which might be by end of this month (according to Steven). :)

Dereelight C2H. 200+ lumens for a single cell edc and comes with both the smooth and textured reflector, and best of all, upgradeable to the newest emitter when available. Pure pocket rocket.:)

+1 for Dereelight C2H, amazing little light :D
