I just fired up my IMR-E2 for the first time, and the second time. The cells were not hot off the charger, and there is no sign of an instaflash. The bulb's resistance is 78 ohms, and the batteries both weigh in at 3.9v or so.

To visual inspection, the filament remains intact. The third time I tried to fire the bulb up, nothing happened. I've tried twisty and clicky tailcaps and E2E and a pineapple body. I even tried it in my vintage E2.

I didn't really flash it with rested cells, did I?

I think you have a broken filament, 78 ohms is too high . I usually get about 0.2ohm between pins.

Thank you for the comparison. I'll see if infant mortality is covered by warranty, as a four second (+/- 50%) runtime estimate is entirely reasonable.

In my E2E, all of my LF bulbs needed a shim to work properly, but you can hold the LA in the business end of the body with the switch turned on to see if it works...

The Shim had to go between the front face of the lamp assemblies base and the reflector. Made one from a beer bottle cap (drill a hole in the middle and cut around the edges).

You sure it's not 0.78 ohms?

78 Ohms would suggest that something is wrong....
