My uncle needs a torch for security purposes on his farm.

He cant use rechargeables since he has no way of charging them (no electricity).

I suggested either an M3T or an M4. Does anyone know of a good throwing incan that doesn't use rechargeables?

A Raidfire Spear would be good but it uses rechargeables.

Cheaper the better because he's not really sure about spending so much on a "torch" lol.

Cheers!

If he's on a farm, does he have a tractor or motor vehicle with a 12v battery? He can purchase a 12v power inverter to power the chargers to recharge the Li-on cells.

Better yet... can he get his hands on a diesel/petrol powered portable generator?

If not his primary battery usage bill will be over the moon...:broke:

does he live at that non-power farm?
Because I never had problems to use rechargeables on whatever occasion. Just bring enough for the runtime needed ;)
cant imagine not to have access to wall plug at some time

Do You know / does he know of the runtime, power, reach he will need?
While the lights mentionned surely are bright, they dont offer a good runtime.

What does he use now (suppose some cheap 2-3 D bulbed lights)?
How much does he like them?

hey, I just did a search on "Raidfire Spear" and learned its a led light? :)
sure You meant that one?

(guys in here are a bit very high power incan focused and usually dont like leds mentionned)
joke! dont take too seriously, ppl. ;)
But I really wonder noone noticed this

PS, if You all be so kind to keep quiet again: imho any Fenix (L2D, P3D, T1) eats this Raidfire, is much smaller, better pocketable, runs longer, possibly is cheaper
(my search hit does not feature a price: http://www.light-reviews.com/raidfire_spear/review.html)
the battery option is great. 18650 is the future

PPS: if this is just a commercial, it is posted in the very wrong section ;)

He lives on a farm in Spain very remote with no power to his house.
He's got a cheap generator but it's power output isn't stable and could damage the batteries.

Runtime of 60mins would be good.
Throw about 60meters?

I mite sell him my M3T

Can I ask where?
Asturias? Galicia?

Primaries (CR123) in Spain are expensive and not easy to find in small towns

He will probably have to import them from America or from Me.

I'd suggest a 2C Taskforce Cree, $30 at Lowes (make sure to get the one that says "60X brighter" on the package, not "30X." uses easy to find cheap C size cells. built reasonably well, throws like crazy but has a useful spill for up close work as well. I don't see how the use of CR123s is going to be economical or practical for said application.

I don't think shopping at Lowes is practical. :D

CR123's are the only option as there is no other torches available in the UK for the specification he needs. It's mainly a security light just to shine longer distance, he's got cheaper lights for close range work.

He's over in the UK for the time being so he's going to buy my M3T from me.

Incan.

Throw.

Long primary battery life.

There's only one choice - Eveready Big Jim. The current model is known as the "Energizer 9101IND".

A mile of throw from a well-proven sealed beam and 100-hour battery life. Upgradeable to brighter lamps if desired.

Also the Eveready/Energizer Dolphin/Sea-Beam is a fine piece of kit at a low price.

What about a help from someone here purchase the TF 3W 2C 150 lumens new Cree for you and ship it to UK? Somewhere in here there's thread for a very low shipping outside the US. I would but I'm still trying to find a second NEW 60x TF around my local. And I've read someone said they pulled/sold out all 60x and don't want to restock because of losing their money.

If he uses a tractor with a 12 volt battery, maybe just get a spotlight with a car adapter and hook it to the battery.

The thing about using a vehicle as a power supply isn't a good idea imo.

Using a vehicle
Imagine you hear a sound outside at night. You stumble around in the dark to find the vehicle keys go outside without any lighting to go to open the vehicle, depending on how the vehicle 12v supply works turn the engine on then shine about.

Using a torch.
Grab torch, go outside click and shine.
