I have several P60 size modules in my toolbox from BOG, WE, Malkoff, etc. I would like to use some of these - even though they are no longer cutting edge.

What are my alternatives in the P60 host arena?

Get a SureFire G2 Incan for 35 bucks from various sources (Cabelas, B&H, eBay, CPF BST) and go from there.

Here's a great host that is inexpensive but not cheap. Grab a Huntlight FT01XSE at Lighthound for $24.99 ASAP. Use coupon code "CPF," and the cost is only $24.49 including free shipping if you spend more than $75. This is a quality host with light gray HAIII finish, AR coated glass, a metal retaining ring under the glass so that it doesn't fall out when you change P60 modules, etc. etc. etc.! Some don't like the clip, but it is fine in my opinion. The tube is wide enough to fit all of my protected 18650 cells. Comes with a leather holster and neck lanyard. I've tried three P60 modules including the Q2 from Supertactical, the SSC U-bin from DX, and the 3SD Q5 from Dereelight. All work fine, and the modes on the 3SD switch just fine with the reverse clicky on this host. Don't go for the $44.95 CREE model because standard modules don't work as easily.

I not tried modules, but Wolf Eyes are great hosts, Sniper or Raider

A couple of inexpensive ones:

I have both, use as beater 18650 lights, prefer the switch on the TR...

Care to elaborate on the switch a bit, forward or reverse click? also what kinds of modes does it have stock?

I want a dereelight, but I'm strapped for cash, considering this as a p-60 drop in host and upgrading the host later after I find some nice dropins :)

Does its switch also work to switch modes to other modules?

I believe that the Xtar P4 from Lighthound would be a good host, module is easy to get to, I think it's a standard P60, has an outside spring around the module. It's only $24.95. It's well built, small and light with HAIII coating. Reverse clickie, switch boot is no longer flimsy. It fits my protected Trustfire 2500 with some room to spare. And I trust Lighthound's service and product selection. It's quite useable as it is, without modification. It gets pretty warm, but appears to exceed 120 lumen for over 2 hours. Review of the former version is on flashlightreview.com.

Sure, both of the lights in my previous post have reverse clicky switch.
I use Dereelight P60 drop-in modules in them.
(the modules that come with these HOST lights can differ, so I can't comment on them)

To change modes for most digital lights is just a half press of the switch.
(Twist type probably wouldn't work in these..I haven't tried)
Some cheap modules don't have memory,.. the Dereelights P60s' DO have memory in their SD line.:)

Dereelight modules:

The lights I posted earlier are really just to get their inexpensive chassis, not their module.

I like TOP lights for a dropin (most will fit, but I've run across a couple that wouldn't) - and they're around $20 from Flashlightz.com..

Hugsby B2 xenon - price from $10 to $30 depending on vendor. Very well finished, simple reliable switch, very good threads. $10 at DX, $30 at Kai!, when I last looked. Just unscrew the xenon bulb holder and drop in a p60.

That ultrafire fits a module with a spring to hold itself in... but it doesn't fit a BOG or Malkoff very well, there's a gap. I think the same thing with the other one.

I think I need to come up with a spacer that will fit right.

Your right,...I completely forgot,
when I got the Ultrafire, I put an o-ring between the lens and lens retaining ring to take up the gap.
Never thought about it since.

The TR light uses the spring.

Thanks!
