The Mauna Loa is a larger version of the Rainer of the Volcano Series. It use a K2-0220 LED and a 20 mm smooth reflector. It is powered with a 18650 Lithium-Ion battery or two CR123A Lithium batteries. The head diameter is 1.2 inches with deep spiral grooving and a removable anti-roll hex. The body is one inch in diameter and has the removable key ring adapter or it can use our standard push button tail switch. Overall length to the end of the battery compartment is 5.3 inches.
With the 18650 battery the output is 1.4 Amps to the LED or about 265 Lumens at the bulb and a measured 5800 Candela as completed with window in place. With a 2600 mAh 18650 the run time should be about two hours. The Rainer run time with a RCR123A battery is about 45 minutes. The light does get warm but not hot.
With two CR123A batteries the output is 1.8 to 2.1 Amps to the LED or about 350 to 375 Lumens at the bulb. The measured output as completed with window is 7000 Candela. At seven watts the light does get hot and so do the batteries. Run time should be kept short in this mode of operation.
The output pattern at 35 feet is a 6 foot diameter hot spot with usable side spill to 30 feet. As a reference the Rainer with a Lux III was 1800 Candela, with the Seoul P4-U2 it is 3000 Candela and the Caribbean is 1200 Candela.
Introductory price will be 89.95 for the month of July 2009 with the key ring adapter or 99.95 with a Stainless Steel Push Button Switch.
We will also have some 18500 battery compartments, (30.00), available and the FR finger groove Combat Handle battery compartment, (30.00), that can also use a AA Battery extender, (10.00), for use with three AA batteries. With three Alkaline AA batteries the initial output is 5400 Candela. The optional battery compartments use the Judco forward clickey dual operation tail switch.
I may make some 18350 battery compartments if there are calls for them, a minimum of 10 requests.
