Is a Surefire C2 head the same as a C3?

I want to buy some Lumens Factory light assemblies for my Surefire E series bodies. I have a E2C converter. Looking at the D26 HO-9, I noticed it was made for 2 x RCR123 but it says it's compatible with the SF C3 and other 3 celled lights. What are people supposed to do? Put in a dummy cell?

My real question, however, is are C2 heads the same as C3? Would this combination work:

E2 body + E2C Converter + 2 x RCR123 + Lumens Factory D26 HO-9?

Thanks.

Yeah, that would work.
They are indeed the same head, and i cant find any faults in your configuration.

most of the answers and a lot more can be found in the guide... just click the link in my signature....

Short answer:
The HO-9 is a "9V" style tactical lamp assembly and can be driven off of any combination of 2 Lithium-Ion cells or 3 Lithum primary cells.

There are a lot of sizes available for Li-Ion cells, so technically speaking, you could use 2x17500 in the C3 and it would fill out the space and give about the same performance (runtime and brightness) as a set of 3 CR123 primary cells.

Technically speaking. The HO-9 is very borderline safe running on 2xRCR123 li-ion cells. I advise reading the guide for more on safety issues as well. I sortof healped pave the way to the thinking that the HO-9 and a pair of RCR123s is a great configuration around here, I need to do some damage control and make sure people use this configuration respectfully, and keep a close watch on cells, use them in short increments, do shallow discharges rather than deep ones, etc etc.

the C2 and C3 should be the same, i plan on getting a HO-9 for my C2 and some AW RCR123's to power it. It seems that everyone else is getting about 22min of constant run time and i havent heard anything negative.

mdocod - It was YOUR guide that led me to this configuration. I have read it numerous times but need to revisit the safety party again. When I left there were only CR123 primaries and Luxeon 3's. Things are so different now.

awesome!, looks like that configuration will work. I'm not 100% familiar with the E2C setups, so I haven't included them in the charts as of yet...
