is batteryspaces D-celled NIMH's any good? [6D rop title change]

I'm surprised...with the popularity of ROP lights no one has any suggestions on cells?

hi, i am no expert but i used vapex 10000mah nmhi, i have never done a runtime but i would guess at 45min?

last time i had it on for a long time it started to melt the bulb holder:sigh:, more cosmeticly but still not good
bright as hell though:naughty:

I think more than 45min...

I've got three 10000mah Batteryspace NiMH D cells in my EL P4 Stunner. They hold up to the 3-3.5a draw of the stunner very nicely and give me looooooong run time, in excess of 2 hours for sure. These batteries are a good value if money is an object. There are better choices, but not at this price.

The Vanson BC1HU charger, however, is certainly a 'get what you pay for'. I have not had a good experience with mine. I think it is pretty flakey. Save a few bucks and buy the Batterspace NiMH D cells, and invest that money in a better charger.

Would three of those D cells work for a Mag85 type set up? I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I couldn't find anybody who used NiMh Ds in their Mag85.

threads all yours KeyGrip, not sure about the mag85 though....nimh have a typical voltage of 1.2 but its pretty high right after charge...I guess it would depend on the voltage spec of your lamp

Thanks Illum. Would the voltage drop to a safe level if I let the cells sit 24 hours after charging? I'm willing to go the AA route, but for me that means extra time and money, so I'd like to use Ds if possible.

i think that was recommended somewhere....but regardless of the time you wait, its better to pull out that DMM and give it a test

Yeah good question about the D (and C size) NiMh... I've wonderd which is a top quality brand. I'm contemplating my next project too...
These are the ones I am aware of. I'm sure there are more. Let me know and I'll add them to my list!

So... which one is manufactured in the most quality controlled manner? And how many actually come from the same factory? Which one has the most capacity? Silverfox, help us!
