the forums and cannot find any info specific to that model. I get the impression the the P60 may be the one, but I really want to be sure what would be best and where you guys would advise I buy from as well. Thanks in advance.

I own quite a few PentagonLights, but I don't own any of their 2 CR123 cell Xenon lights. I can try to see if a SF P60 will fit in my PX1, I'll let you know what the results are.

My Pentagon PX-1 will accept and work perfect with any Cree Q5, Cree R2, and Malkoff M30.

I ran it with a Malkoff P7 P60 and traded it in that format with a 6P twistie to a fellow candlepower member.

Thanks, but does that apply to an X2, which appears to be a totally different light?

It look like the X1 and X2 are the same head (same bezel diameter in the specs) just with different bodies for the number of cells (and the P models just add the stud on the tailcap for the belt clip.) The lamp assemblies look about the same. Unless someone has an X2 to try you might not have a guaranteed answer.

It sure doesn't look totally different though.

It is the same bezel and the xenon drop-in for the X2 looks 100% identical as the xenon PX-1. Granted the writing on the lamps is different to distinguish which one will run on 1 cell vs 2 cell, but it will fit perfect.

I put springs on my P60 drop-ins. The Q5 ro R2's have that outer spring for contact. I took the outer springs from my Q5 and put them on my Malkoffs in order to run the Malkoff. Then I wrap them in aluminum foil to help with the heat. My PX-1 was plastic bezel.

I think you could just ge a $10 dollar R2 from DX and you are ready to go. Or my personal favorate was the M60 from Gene Malkoff: well technically I liked the P7 P60 from Gene better, but it gets hot and run time is not good on a single IMR 16340. Lucky for you Gene Malkes the MC-E Warm P60 capable to run on 2 or 3 rechargeable cells.

I know you were going the LED drop-in route, but as a side note I thought I'd leave this tidbit.

If you want to drop in a Surefire P60, you can take the gold outer spring off of the X2 Lamp assembly and put it on the P60. Install it into the X2 and it should work.

While I haven't tried this myself, it might be something to look into if you still want the incan option.
