I was thinking about replacing the old XRE P4 drop-ins I have in my Dereelights and my first option was the Dereelight drop-ins. However, I was disappointed to see that the 3SM modules don't work on 1x18650 and the 3SD modules only work on a single Li-Ion. My old XRE P4 modules are regulated (SMPS) with both 1x Li-Ion and 2x123As.
I then looked at Nailbender's drop-ins, and they use a LDO so they regulate fine on 1x18650, but produce a LOT of wasted heat if running 2x123As.
Are there any P60 drop-ins that are SMPS (switch mode, doesn't matter if it's voltage controlled or current controlled...they're the same thing, just one has feedback and an output filter) to support 1x Li-Ion and 2x123As?
Or has anyone run Nailbender's XPG or SST-50 drop-ins on 2x123As for an extended period of time to see what runtime is (not as long as it could be since excess energy is wasted as heat) and how hot it gets?
