Is this batt rechargeable?

At a glance, anyone would assume it's rechargeable. That's what we, or at least I, have been seeing or using.

But this batt came free with one of the 2 green lasers (same model) I've purchased from KD. The first laser came with a primary CR2, no doubt about it (has brand name and all). Then my second laser came with this batt. I'm noob in batts, I'm wondering if this is rechargeable (looks like it) but I assume all free batts that come with lights are primary batts, no? In this case, I just want to play safe.

Any batt experts can confirm before I load it into a charger?

what is the open circuit voltage?

the cr123a primary ive seen are 1400mAh..
most manufacturers overrate, so I'm not sure why they'd state only 800mAh.

with rcrs, many overrate to ~800mAh.

But it's not a CR123A, it's a CR2, a different, smaller battery.

It almost certainly is not rechargeable. If it was a rechargeable it would have more and different markings on it. The 3.0 V marking is a give away. That is characteristic of a primary lithium battery.

Yep primary looking. I don't think there's enough space to stick a voltage regulating circuit in there.

 Sure? You might have saved me from an explosion. But I didn't realized primary batteries come packed like this as well.

Thanks

oops, read it wrongly. there are 3V liions, though.
but, if it's a CR2.. I'll agree with almost certainty that it's a primary.

Took one look at it, and "primary" jumped into my head.

Seen an inexpensive, generic, CR123 primary that had a similar label. (Even though your's is a CR2 cell).

The poor guy who bought the generic CR123 cells tried to charge them up. No explosion, thankfully. But I believe there was some smoke. He got lucky. Ironically, the link he provided to us that was posted by the eBay seller did indeed mention that he was selling CR123 cells; instead of RCR123 cells.

These cheap generic batts will be the death of me. Gosh, is it that difficult just to state "Rechargeable" and "Non-rechargeable" on the wrapping for noobs like me? :ohgeez:

In a way, they do. If it is a primary it will have CR2 or CR II on the wrapping. If it is rechargeable it will have something like ICR15270 on the wrapping.

(Or, it may say rechargeable. There does seem to be a lot of variation in labeling.)

Honestly, why even mess with them?

Do yourself a huge favor, and just spend the few extra bucks on AW brand rechargeables. You get quality, consistency, less headaches.... no confusing labels on the cells.
