So, after many days of deliberation, I ordered my Ra Clicky- 140 wider beam pattern, black SS bezel, black clip/ bezel down, executive. So friggin' excited!

BUT! I have a question before Henry ships it... Does anybody have photos of the 140 wide compared to the 140 narrow? I have been all over here looking for comparisons outside as well as in.

Please, if anybody has some, post em! :shakehead Thank you.

Edit: Shoulda asked for em before I ordered.

You made a great choice!!! The narrow throws a lil farther, but for close, mid range work, you cant beat what ya got.

A 5 second search with google at the top of the page I found this: ;)

Here are some shots between a 140C and EDC Tactical.

Thanks. Reassuring. Really. I start questioning myself after making a large purchase like this- if I got the right beam pattern and all. I am pretty sure that most of the work it will be used for will be closer than further, and in my head, I imagine eventually buying a higher lumen light with a narrower beam down the road.:sssh:

I've seen this pic before too. I see the first is the 140 and the other is a tactical- is the tactical 140 narrow as well?

Generally the Tactical lights are config'd with narrow beams.

Right. But that is why I am asking. I ordered my Custom with a wider beam, but when I look at these two pics, the only "real" difference I see is the brightness (I don't have the trained eye :( ), and if that is the case, I may of wanted to get the narrower beam pattern.

Do you have any pics taken up close or inside?

In the pics above it looks brighter because the beam is more focused. They are both rated at 140lumens on burst. Also, take a look at the ground in the foreground. With the regular 140 it is much more illuminated because it has more "spill".

If you plan to use the light up close and/or indoors then the medium beam will serve you well. It is definitely not "only good" in close range scenarios. The basic RA is an all around performer imo.

Once again, thank you. Like I said before, I think I have the newbie jitters.:duh2:

It's all good. The RA Clicky isn't one of the most popular lights around for nothing. It will definitely serve you well. Built like a tank and totally configurable by the end user. Let us know how you like it once it arrives!

Don't worry out it, you have made a very wise choice with the Clicky. The wide beam model you have chosen has one of the smoothest, most useful beams available - P4 emitters also have a very even tint across the beam.

Just wait till you receive the light - you will be a happy camper!!

James...:D

Excellent choice for a first light! I wish I had started my flashlight craze with the 170 and 140GT I have now, I would have saved myself a lot of money... Because once you work yourself up to the HDS lights, all others pale in comparison!

If thats your first flashlight, every subsequent purchase will be a disappointment.

Are you guys sure that the tactical Ra in the beamshots is running 140 lumens?

Notice in the picture it says level 22 for the tactical model vs level 23 for the 140c. I think in the beamshots that the tactical is actually a 120 lumen version, either that or it is the 140 lumen tactical model on stepdown from high putting out 100 lumens. I can't remember which it is.

You had good reason to be excited and made the best choice you could have made for all general flashlight usage!

140 wide beam pattern with black bezel - yeah! I have a Ti Clicky 170 and am going to change emitters to get closer to the beam pattern you're going to have!

great choice!!!

i have a few, but my EDC Clicky has been in my pocket for at least the last year and a half. it's seen it all, and never shows any sign of ever letting me down.

you did it right! it took me going through hundreds of lights to find my "one" (the Clicky).

it's all downhill from here brother!

Right you are civic77. I can't remember where I posted those pics from but the edc tactical doesn't go to level 23. But because of the tighter nature of the beam it appears just as bright or even brighter than the floodier 140C even with the less lumens.

I preffer the wider beam as I love floodier lights. To me, it's more usefull than a little more thor, I'll use a bigger light when I need throw anyway.

By day however, I carry the 170CN, because it's the brightest and best to search for hidden things under tree roots or between rocks...

The ideal companion to a 140C is actually a 170Cn, do it CPF style - buy both!

I approve of this post wholeheartedly!

I'm a flood-is-more-important user too, but during daytime when trying to work under the hood of a car a narrow punchy beam rules!
