I can't call myself a collector, but I own a number of knives, including Ken Onion Scallion and Chive, a Spyderco Delica, and my current favorite, the Kershaw Blur.

I saw that it is now available in S30V, as opposed to the 440A. So I pose a question to the people who know far more than I about knives - do you think the different steel is worth replacing the knife?

P.S. I also welcome others' opinions on the Blur in general.

YES, if you use your Blur often the S30V is worth it, definatly, it will keep you from having to sharpen your blur often...Now, if you only use your knife once in a while then it might not be worth it to you...Also if you know how to and can eaily sharpen your knives then you don't need the S30V...Its just much better than the 440A if you use your knives alot...

To give you an example...I use to owna Leek, I loved it, but when the S30V leek with the G-10 handles came out I replaced my old leek with that, HUGE difference, never had to sharpen it ever, infact it lasted as logn as it took me to trade the knife, lol, which I onyl did to get a new toy, nothgin wrogn with the knife at all...Its just that Im always broke so trading is all I can do to get new knives to play with, and use, lol...

I have several Blurs. I like the ability to open the blade with one hand, as I usually have something in my other hand I want cut. The handle feels right in my hand (especially after I removed the clip and put it in a drawer). It also seems to lie in my pocket easier. Probably just my imagination.

I am still evaluating the S30V blade. I have had it about 3 weeks. It was not shaving sharp, like most of my blades are, but it cuts everything easily, so far.

I have an SG2, but have not carried it enough to make a fair evaluation. Kershaw claims it to be great. It seems they make at least 3 different steels in the Blur line. Maybe why ice cream folks make chocolate, vanilla and strawberry?

If you carry a knife more than you use it, stick to a smaller knife. If you need a bit larger knife or just want more blade to cut with, try the Blur. You will like it.
