I apologise in advance for what is probably a very basic question, but I'm new to this

I bought a Surefire L4 the other day and took the head apart for no good reason at all. Problem is I can't put it back together properly, the lens section which sits in front of the LED seems to be made up of 4 parts:
Pyrex Lens
Housing Cylinder
Soft Rubber O Ring
Rigid Plastic O Ring

I can't seem to put them back together in the. right order, does anybody know how? The Soft O Ring seems to be the part that's giving me the trouble, it doesn't fit inside the Housing Cylinder properly (too wide) and if I slip it over the threading on the LED head it gets all crushed when I screw the lens on.

Would very much appreciate any help and promise to do my homework before taking apart my expensive new toys in the future

how did you take it apart?
surefire uses this "liquid weld" solution in their joints...making it nearly impossible to disassemble it.

now that you took it apart, care to post a pic of the guts?
I've always wondered what the insides look like [I have 3 KL4s, but none have been forcefully opened]:poke:

I would shoot milkyspit a PM, hes a well known surefire modder on the forum, he has more experience than me on this one ;)

I just unscrewed it, maybe I didn't take the sealed part of the head apart (freakin hope so as I don't have a clue about this stuff!). I can't seem to upload pictures, but essentially I've just taken off the uppermost ring which holds the glass not the innards of the LED

Hey guys,

If I understand correctly you want to get that bezel ring onto the head again? Here's how to reassemble...

1. Flip the bezel ring upside down

2. Put the hard plastic ring into the bezel ring so it sits down in the indent deep in there.

3. Put the lens into the bezel ring so it sits on the hard plastic ring but still in the indent.

4. Stuff the soft plastic gasket into the head. There is a slot in the bezel ring that lets the gasket sit smoothly on the lens. If you get it right, you'll be able to flip the bezel ring upside down without anything falling out.

5. Screw the bezel ring back onto the head. The ring should screw down snugly and nothing should fall out, nor should anything block the reflector.

Hope this helps!
