As I've learned many times over, it doesn't hurt to review your notes on machining techniques. I tried to make a knurled Luce, only to have problems with the knurling, cut knurling, to be specific. As this was 6061AL, it wasn't the material that was giving me problems, it was my set-up of the knurling tool, so back to studying it was. The results were much better the second time around.

Here are some pics:

That's the as-machined piece, before being parted off.

Sharp-eyed viewers will notice that there are two types of knurling on this Luce--the cut knurling on the body and form knurling on the tail cap piece.

And by special request, a radiation symbol tail cap:

:ooo:

That's freakin' awesome! And while I'm normally not a fan of the radiation symbol, it looks WICKED on this!

Whoever owns this HAS to post picture of the Trit inside the radiation tailcap!!

 john

New run please

I only make Luce de Notte bodies on commission now, although they don't have to be anything super fancy--I still make the basic Luce, with just grooves and dimples, for example. And for metals, just about anything that can be cut on a lathe is fair game. Price range from $160 to over $500, depending on material and design. You must have your own Trit sphere, and be willing to either install it yourself, or have someone else do the installation.
