I just bought a Kroll switch for my MiniMag. Is there a simple way to use the switch without loosening the head?

Loosening the head?
Assuming you would want to loosen the head, I am thinking your minimag is stock. If you are using the minimag stock, both switches have to be "on" for it to work. If your minimag head is screwed all the way down, it will lose it's connection with the body and shut the light off.
If you don't want the head to move, throw some teflon tape (non-sticky teflon stuff that pipes are sealed with) Keep wrapping it on the heads until the head becomes very hard to turn.

I was really interested if anyone had a solution to keep the head tight, but also work the Kroll. Maybe a spacer on the negative (front) end of the sandwich to keep contact with the body even with the head screwed all the way down.

Actually, what about a spring the diameter of the sandwich that you could slide in the barrel before the sandwich. It would only have to be about 1/4" long to keep the sandwich in contact with the body.

soloco,
I have several sandwiches and the spring idea is very, very bad! Those sammies need to sink the heat they generate to the body of the light quickly...having a spring would really cook the sandwich. Save a sammie, shoot a spring.
Both of my BB500 R2H (and wife's BB400 Q3L) have the heads of the minimag or Brinkmann locked in position with Loc-tite thread locker. I have found the head will sink the heat away faster with the solid connection to the body so it is a win-win. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Since you are using a sandwich, there is no reason for the head to turn. Lock the head with adhesive and let the kroll do the switching duties. Works great with all my sammie lights.

Ohhhh. Interesting. I was just going to report that I got it to work. I made a very thick spring out of a heavy duty paper clip that I dropped into the barrel before the sandwich. Now the Kroll works with the head screwed all the way on. I hope I don't burn it out, but I think I'll try this solution for now.
