I have been a SureFire user for years. Many.

My first "real" flashlight was a SureFire 6P. I allways run that light (still have it) with a p61 globe. Wow Bright.

I have allways ben curious about the turbo head. I have allways resisted. I never thought I needed one. Hell a turbo head that costs more than the flashlight? Crazy. Hell I was crazy to wait.
I have lots of led based lights which produce a nice tight beam. That said the other day I was poking around a web site and started looking at a KT1 for one of my 6P's. I orderd one and a 9 volt globe for the for use with the detonator extention.
I received the turbo head today assembled it a and all I can say is wooowwe.
What a beautiful perfect white clean beam. Very very nice. I look forward to getting the 9 volt globe.
Surefire Legos is great fun!! It is fun with LED's and incan's.

I just wanted to say that I love surefire.
I wish they were better about making globes. (I have been having a hard time finding a replacment globe for my A2 (which was an uder-performer) The 9 volt globe seems hard to find as well. Maybe all of this stuff is going to iraq or somthing.

The 6P with a KT1 and a z59 tail switch makes for an incredible compact very beautiful little flashlight. Hell I am embasassed to say that it took me this long to buy a KT1. How silly of me to wait.

I'm waiting on a back ordered KT2. Your post is not helping! When I finally get it and all the lamps/globes I ordered I will be able to use it in the 6V, 9V, and 12V configurations! The delay started out as 2 weeks, now Surefire is telling me 6 weeks. I hope I get my parts before the Summer Solstice!

Enjoy yaesumofo

PS is your name short for "Yes you..." LOL

Surefire is shipping the KT2 with the MN15 lamp instead of the N2. I received one of these and was not happy with the switch.

I already had a couple of MN15 lamps for my M3T. I would rather have bought the head with no lamp at a lower price.

No word from SF on when (or if) the N2 will be available.

Flash,

SF is not going to supply you with a N2 when available?

No such offer was made, although I did not ask this directly. They feel the MN15 is an equivalent replacement.

My intention was to get the KT-2/N2 to use with my D3. The N2
was designed for and is the intended lamp for the KT-2. It has a much more symmetrical beamshape than the MN15.

That's not true. The N2 was designed for the T Series 3" diameter extended range TurboHead. It would be fair to say the SRTH was designed with the N2 lamp in mind.
The KT TurboHead (same TurboHead is used for the KT1, KT2 & KT5 kits) has the reflector design of the Millennium TurboHead which in fact was designed for the longer, larger, thicker filaments of the Millennium Series TurboHead Lamps assemblies - first of all the MN20 & MN21 and then the MN15/MN16 and MN60/MN61.
It would be more accurate to say the KT2 TurboHead reflector was designed for the MN15/MN16 lamps.

I completely understand that the N2 produces a far more round beam compared to the MN15 and is therefore considered by some far more attractive compared to the MN15. I am such a person.

One could well argue that the MN15 as a far more modern and advanced Lamp Assembly is more than sufficient replacement for the N2 Lamps Assembly.

I hope that SureFire are working to bring back the N2 lamp. I also hope that they will understand that a few people consider the N2 such an important lamp that the MN15 will not do as a substitute and further, agree to provide an N2 to those who [unfortunately for the individual concerned] recieved an MN15 they did not want.

Thanks for the clarification Al. The oval beams really don't bother me.

The crappy weather is upon Northern California and a Turbohead on my 9P will make my evening walks with my lovely wife quite entertaining!

The wait is killing me...
