L-shaped light as a blinding tactical light?

Hi all,
"Tactical" flashlights are usually supposed to be held "the tactical way", i.e. thumb on the tail switch, arm folded and raised so that the light is on the side of the user's head.
To use only the "blinding" function of such a light against an assailant, I wonder how good a L-shaped light (ZL and the like) would be.
Of course it would have instant access to the maximum brightness and to strobe.
Thanks for your thoughts on this subject.

If you use your light in a tactical situation regardless of what light it is, it would have been considered tactical, in my eyes anyway.

If I specifically was to chose a light for tactical situations it would be a single mode high output non L shaped. Momentary switch.

Mostly because testing has been done by so many professionals about how a tactical situation should be or could be handled with multiple lights but always seem to stick with a tail switch operation.

This is just my opinions tho.

I use a SF g2z-mv with my pistol.

But honestly you could use whatever you really wanted too for a tactical situation as long as you've trained with it and know it well enough to not have to think twice about how to operate it when under a stressful situation.

Thanks wicky for your reply.

not have to think twice about how to operate it when under a stressful situation.

This is IMHO the most important aspect. Therefore instant access to max brightness and Strobe are essential, without needing to fiddle with a (possibly difficult to find) side switch after pressing the tail switch, in order to access one of these modes.

It seems this rules out several Nitecore lights (P12, MH12GT etc.), for which - as far as I understand from their manual and the CPF reviews - you need to activate Strobe once the light is on, using the side switch.

However, the Olight UI (at least on the M2R) seems much better in this regard: the tail switch allows instant access to Max and Strobe, but the light can also be turned on to another mode using the side switch, in "non urgent" situations.

Do any other brands/lights have this dual switch UI, where the light can be switched on with either switch, and the tail switch is clearly adapted to a tactical use?

First thing comes to mind would be the streamlight stinger or strion ds hl.

Often used by Leo they have both the side switch and tactical tailswitch

I've heard good thing about the m2t/r model by olight like you mentioned

If you can find one ik the r1 by SF has both as well.

I'm sure there are other models as well just can't seem to remember lol

First Light Tomahawks are a stubby L shaped light designed purely for tactical use. The strobe feature is purely an attention getter. In use it is set up for a police officer to clip it on their belt during a traffic stop with strobe turned on to alert traffic to move over as they are typically uniformed in dark, non reflective clothing. There's even a multi color strobe feature.

The switches are on the top not the side.

Thanks guys, but these lights are way too big for me.
I'm looking for something the size of the M2R (which up to now is my best option), i.e. maximum 1" = 2.5cm in diameter, 5" or 13 cm long. In other words, a typical 1x18650 light.

Fenix pd35 and 35 tac is 18650 and has both switches and is around the same size as the olight for another choice
