L0P SE emitter swap??

Hey everyone...

I want to swap out the Lux I emitter in my L0P SE with a SSC P4...

there's like no space in there to do it!!! if anyone has done this before.. please help me out with tips/tricks for doing it... and if u got some images of the swap... that would be wicked!!!

Use a heat gun and remove the reflector-piece
from the head.
Unsolder the led. The SSC P4 fits in the space.
And use Arctic Alumina to isolate the bottom of
the SSC P4.

hey.. thanks for the info...

i actually did manage to get the top of the head off and i can see the emitter.... (i actually used a hair dryer!!)

i just wanted to know how i can make sure i get the right polarity on the ssc when i put it in????

Works well on a 1.5v cell but a 3.7 lithium cell heats it up too much and the LED output turns blue.

The L0P and L0P SE are not meant to handle 3.7V lithium cells! You were overdriving the LED by 2x, or more.

I know, but I had to try it. Still, a big improvement in the output on a normal cell. My original L0P has been running on 3.7v for what must be a few years now. Still works great.

Thanks so much.... i was pretty close to selling the L0P SE.. and getting a L0D CE Q4...

but i think i'll just swap out the emitter.. and save a bunch of cash...

as for using li 3.7v.... i don't think the driver is meant for over 2.0v

tho, i guess u can do away with the driver altogether and direct drive it with a 3.7v li...
