can anybody tell me what would be the equvilant brightness of the resistor number in a L4 2 stage switch to the L2 low level output (15 lumens claimed by SF)

thanks

You won't get there, IMHO. The L4 is a boost circuit and you need enough resistance to drop the converter out of regulation. This amount or resistance is likely enough to drop the output well below what you get with the regulated low level current driver in the L2. When it comes to boost circuits, using a resistor to drop them out of regulation is contrary to what the circuits are trying to accomplish and the range of viable resistive solutions is not that great and varies from converter to converter. There are viable resistive switch solutions for the L4 but not in the range you seek.

actually, i just want to compare how bright it would be if i choose a certain resistor number

There's a chart somewhere........ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif

Here ya go:

I've just put a mce2s tailswith on my L4 with a 60 ohm resistor. I've got a couple of smaller values to try out, but I really like the 60 ohm. It puts out about as much light as my ARC L4 did on its lowest setting. Perfect for not ruining night vision and really makes the L4 more useful to me.

Cheers,
Bob

How does this compare to something like an Arc AAA or Ultra-G?

thx
