Trying to build a laser com link. I'm looking at 650nm red laser ttl diode modulated driver on E-bay what do you think? Would this work for my project? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

What do you have planned for the reciever?
I used a 625nm 200mW red diode laser combined with a CdS photosensor as switch (like in art museum robbery moves), and I'm not sure if the CdS sensor has a quick enough response time to be useful for fast communications. There seemed to be a fraction of a second delay between the light hitting and the thing registering, so definitely need to consider your communication frequency and the response time of your detector.
