LCD CHARGERS

There's an extensive thread in the forum comparing different chargers. Especially the Maha C-9000 and the La Crosse BC900. This will help you decide if the Maha is worth your money.

This seems to be a rebranded La Crosse BC700.
If you really want a good answer to your question, then you might want to be a little more specific about your needs.

I just got a La Crosse BC700. I love it!!! Best money I've spent on a charger thus far.

ok im after charging and discharging eneloops and other nimh 2000mah - 2500mah

id like to be able to put a battery in and see how much is in it or put a part used battery in and discharge and recharge

i want independant info for each cell

i want a few options for speed of charge (rate)

so do i need the maha or do they all do these things?

thanks

Alex

ps - can you link me the thread you were refering too

thanks

I have the Angeleyes and have just ordered anther one. Rate of charge can only be adjusted by putting in more or less cells - it will charge at 1065mA with two cells in it, 710mA with 3 and 1065mA with 2.

With AAA's it is about 300mA with 4 and about 600 with 2 - it has cells in it just now so can't toss in some AAAs for charging rate.

Having tested the same cells on the Maha and the Angeleyes, the results were within about 10% - there is a thread about it in here somewhere. The original Angeleyes thread is here. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=151066

After some digging i found the comparison thread. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=168275

The Maha does more but Eneloops and the like prefer a charge of an amp or less so the higher rate of 2A is not a good idea for them.

I have a 15 minute charger that charges AAs at 8 amps. Strongly not recommended for any low self-discharge cell but handy with 1800-2000mAh cells that can take that sort of abuse. Higher capacity ones won't.

It discharges at 560mA for all cells AA or AAA

The Angeleyes will tell you charge or discharge time, amount put in and amount taken out, voltage and current flowing at that time. It discharges to 1.0V whereas the Maha discharges to 0.9V though this probably only makes a 1-5% difference as an NiMH cell at 1.0V is effectively empty anyway.

You can get an Angeleyes delivered for US$35 (At today's exchange rate of $1.75=£1=£20) so you can get 2.5 of them for the price of the Maha. I've had mine for about 15 months and am very happy with it.

You can get the Lacrosse for £38 here. http://www.component-shop.co.uk/html/standard.html

Maplin do the Maha - my local store has it on the shelf.

ok guys

after a bit of reaserch

the maha is a bit too clever for my needs (and expensive)

i have a hobby charger so i can use that for bigger cells and faster charging (pro-peak supernova)

so ive narrowed it down to the

laCrosse bc900
Angeleyes

can enyone give me a list of the biggest differences?
so i know which to get

just so you know im looking at about £37 for the Lacrosse
or £20 for the angel eyes (from kai)

these are to my door prices

any more info would be super

Alex
