Guys,
I am on cloud 9! I got my LD01 today (black--the stainless version is hopefully shipping soon!) and it is even better than I had anticipated.
In short, I am in love with this light!
Just 2 short weeks ago I pulled trigger on the 100 lumen (allegedly) Lummi Wee. This is a gorgeous little light, indeed, but I can tell you that immediately upon receiving the LD01, I got the Wee off my keychain and put the LD01 in the pole position!
Likes:
-Build quality is amazing
-Bright as can be!!
-Very nice, smooth beam
-Good beam color--cool, but not purple at all!
-Great size and weight!
Dislikes:
-A teeny tiny bit big for a keychain light
-I'm not the hugest fan of starting off on Medium then going to Low then going to high. I think I would have liked Low->Med->High a tad better. But this is a very minor preference.
To the pics!
Here is the Lummi Wee, the M@g Solitaire, the NiteCore D10 and the Brand New Fenix LD01!
Same lights en face...
Very comfy in the hand.
AND NOW THE BEAMSHOTS!!
The kitchen at night--control shot
The M@g Solitaire--barely visible on the wall with full focus and fresh battery!
The warm, almost purely floody beam of the Lummi Wee!
The unbelievable raw power of the tiny-but-potent LD01!!
The super-power of the NiteCore D10--remember this is a AA light rather than the LD01's AAA!
Comparison: LD01 on the Left and Nitecore D10 on the Right... not bad for such a tiny light!
In sum, I am amazed and delighted by this little pocket rocket. Right now I'm on alkalines but will get some Eneloop AAAs asap. This is a light to be reckoned with and I am getting a bunch more to give out as the gift of the season.
I can say that while I gave my Fenix E01 away since I didn't think it was enough bang for the buck, I am amazed by the power of this light! At a reported 80 lumens it really blows the Lummi Wee (at a reported 100) out of the water. Now, there is a key difference--the LD01 has a reflector and a tighter beam while the Wee is basically pure flood.
I am so happy with this light and want to congratulate Fenix on another winner. This is the Holiday gift of 2008 as far as I am concerned.
