Correct me if I am wrong. I thought the LD20 r4 and LD10 r4 uses the same head and tail, just a longer body for the LD20. No?I was told that the LD10 cannot handle lithium ion batteries that run 3.7v. It looses its low mode on slightly over 1.5v. How well is the LD10 head going to run off 3v?
I am guessing that the threads don't match so people will not lego them and blow the circuit.

I did not confirm with Fenix but instead, based it on the review here:I think you better confirm that by checking with Fenix before you try it. If 1.7v is too much for low modes on the LD10, then how is 3v not too high?

If selfbuilt did not blow up the light by using a 3.7V 14500 in the LD10 r4, I don't think 3V would kill it either.
Easy now boys and girls.
A lot of "I think so" here
The driver on the LD10/20 (yes same head) goes into direct drive somewhere around 3.2v.
You can run 1x Lithium 1.7v in the LD10 with absolutely no loss of modes.
You can run 2x Alkaline or 2x NiMh in the LD20 with no side effects, only when you run 2x 1.7v Lithiums do you run into issues. (3.4v)
Same with 1x 14500 Li-Ion 3.7v in the LD10.
Thread issues are as mentioned above.
I have not seen a LD20 tube for sale with the new thread pattern, my own LD10/20 was made from an older LD10 Q5 and L2D body.
Is there more versions on the LD20? There is the Q5, R4 and now the "Clip" version? If I remember correctly the clip versions of LD20 and LD10 were the first to have square threads and broke the compatibility.
I've been using my LD10 Q5 head on LD20 body with no ill effects, and the output seems to be the same as the LD20 head on the same body.
I would say your LD10 is pretty unique and probably broken then.My LD10 looses low mode with lithium primaries. Its fine with alkaline or eneloops.

Normal LD10 heads can run with 2x1.5v=3v and maintain all modes.
Incorrect. The LD20 is a 2xAA light, the LD10 is a 1xAA light. Both the Quark AA2 and the Fenix LD10 are multi mode 2AA lights.
Only when you turn it into a LD20.My LD10 looses low mode with lithium primaries. Its fine with alkaline or eneloops.
Could you point me to the thread please?
You have just confused the hell out of me, reading all your posts about the LD20 when we are talking about the LD10.

(LD20) 2x1.7v = 3.4v = problem
(LD10) 1x1.7v = 1.7v = works fine
