I just got back from Wal-Mart and bought a little tiny LED Dorcey flashlight called simply L.E.D. Light. It's the first time I've seen them there. It ran me just over $5. It has an attractive aluminum body (I got it in blue) and run's on a single AAA battery. Seem's kind of nice for the size and price. I don't really have anything to compare it to other then my L4 which of course is no contest as far as brightness goes so does anyone else here have any opinions on this light or it's output? Is this a new product from Dorcey?

I have 4 of these and I am very happy with all of them.It is a simple design and very bright with great features.I like the feel and style of the light however I have noticed a little difference in each of mine. They are all bright and well worth the cost however two of mine are a little different in light output and beam color.I am waiting for the release ot the 3 LED AA light in the same style.

Its bordering on heresy but the little Dorcy AAA led puts out more light than the ARC and CMG offerings, when all start out with fresh batteries. In the long run I believe both of the higher priced lights will be brighter than the Dorcy when the battery starts going south.I don't have the patience to run all three to confirm this opinion.

I would suspect that the "semi-regulation" being primarily a function of the step-up circuitry is common to the Arc AAA/AA, the CMG Ultra and Sonic, and the Dorcy AAA. It's just an educated guess; I haven't checked. I don't know if Roy has runtime charts on all of them or not.

A lot of people here have been calling this the Dorcy 1AAA - as it uses 1x AAA battery and has 1x LED.

Here are a couple of comparisons, with beamshots, of the ones I bought, also from Wally-World:

Dorcy 1AAA vs. ArcAAA vs. Ultra-G

Dorcy 1AAA #2 (vs ArcAAA vs Ultra-G vs Dorcy #1)

BeamShot Dorcy 1AAA (#2) vs. ArcAAA

Hi,

I just took the boost circuit from a Dorcy 1AAA and transplanted it into a Shakelight/Forever Flashlight to improve the beam output.

Has anyone found a steady source of these lights yet? Ken a.k.a. Kitelights was good enough to send me one for modding, but while I was waiting for my 1W Luxeon to arrive, I got a little restless and dropped it into a Shakelight.

I still can't find anyone selling them in Canada...

Home Hardware has the 3LED 1AA and 4Led 2AA version. I had them check their computer, it doesn't look like they will be carrying the 1AAA.

If anyone can get their hands on four of them and send them my way I'd be VERY grateful. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif

My local Wally World finally got in a supply of the Dorcy 1xAAA lights. I picked one up for less than $6. I am glad that I didn't pay more. While the light is comparable to the ARC AAA it is larger and while the clickie tail switch is a nice touch, it doesn't install confidence in the quality of the unit. I can see the light going off in a purse or in a pocket very easily.

Probably not imparting anything that hadn't been said before. If you can't afford the ARC AAA then the Dorcy is worth a look for someone who wants a small keychain light that is easier to deal with in the battery department than the Photon lights.

YMMV
