I bought a "sanni" from dealextreme. I used it an evening and was very impressed. Today I opened it up to see how it looks like on the inside and put it back together. I used it again and the light went blue and diminished after a couple of seconds. Turning it off and on again did work for a couple of seconds. recharging the batteries didn't work.

I opened the light up and saw that the led was not attached to the heatsink, so I think that was the problem.

Is this a known problem? Is it my fault because I opened it? Can I throw away the led now? it seems less bright as before. It had a very nice colour so I hope it is still ok.

I've opened up a number of DX flashlights. They tend to overlook or not bother using thermal compound at key places. For instance, under the emitter on 1W LED flashlights. It's easy to fix. I end up opening every one of their flashlights anyway.

I've already put a cree in it in stead of the original LED. It was an evening work with a dremel but now it is the most impressive little light I have. Very bright!
