I wanted to see if any of you out there in CPF land has replaced the regular lamp in a littlelite http://www.littlite.com/index.html with a LED. I'm sure Brock has seen these lights before they are widely used in the production business. My questions are: how bright compared to the regular lamp, and what is the cost difference? Would it be worth it to replace? The littlelites we use get knocked around a bit with road travel and are very hot to the touch (I have burned cables and myself with them). I figure LED's would hold up better and not get as hot as long as they are equal or better in brightness and not too expensive.

Tree I just ordered another 6. We have LOTS of them here. So where have you seen the LED replacement lamps? I use some at home and would prefer the LED version. Also out at house mix I don't need the blinding light of them most of the time and as you mentioned the lamps are fragile. We go through about 30 lamps a year, and I am the one who has to keep spares and change them all the time.

Actually I have not found them yet, I wanted to ask around to see if they existed before I went on a search. I'll get the info on the lamps at work tomorrow and then start the great LED replacement search.

I'll let you know if I find any.

30 lamps a year? Good grief!! We only own about a dozen and maybe half will blow in a years time. Of course ours don't get daily use, I'd say an average of 2-3 times a week. Although I'm sure they will all get a good amount of use the end of this month with NADA, Superbowl, and Mardi Gras starting up we (almost) have more jobs than we can handle (we had to turn many away).

It's pretty rediculous.

P.S. I actually installed LED rope lights lined inside the back of all my racks thanks to this forum.

Mostly the lamps need replacement because they are dropped or smashed. We have about 30 floating around right now between all the consoles and racks and misc singles.

Tree & Brock...what line of work are you each in? I own a sound reinforcement company, and from the clues, it sounds like you're in a similar field.

Hey Plinko

I'm head of audio at a sound reinforcement/production company close to New Orleans. We do corporate/concert/convention audio and backline mostly around the south with a few scattered shows across the country.

Excellent! Nice to hear from both of you, and nice to know that I'm not the only nutty sound and light guy out there

Another nutty sound and light guy here in Boise.
I have tried many different options for lighting up the consoles.
Any news on a drop in for the littlelight?
