hey Folks - I was driving home the other night and had an idea which lead to this question:

Does anyone know if it's possible (or has anyone done it?) to run a custom handheld flashlight/spot light from the auto cigarette lighter spot? I figure this makes battery selection WAY easier (no battery) and the metal housing can be larger thus minimizing heat and maximizing LEDS!!

I know there are OTS products but was thinking about MANY LED's that would be amazing. Also - if I could rig it with a magnet so it almot acts as "off road" lighting that would be swell.

Thoughts? :)

The Coleman 530 lumen LED spotlight might fit your needs perfectly. It is rechargeable and has a 2.5 hour runtime and can also be run directly from BOTH its 12V DC car adaptor and AC charger adaptors for unlimited power. It uses 3 CREE XR-E emitters each in their own deep reflectors and throws and extremely bright beam of light a VERY long distance. I recommend against running it from its AC charger for an extended period of time as the charger becomes very hot, but it works perfectly from its car adaptor.:)

It can be bought at Walmart.com for $45 or Sears for $60. It is extremely durable and won't be damaged from shock such as being dropped on a hard surface. It is highly water resistant and can get soaked (such as in rain, not being fully submerged) without any water getting into it.
