I have decided to enter the 21st century and do some selective upgrades to my Surefire lights.

I recently uncovered a long forgotten stash of Surefires, including some 3P's and was wondering if there is a drop in upgrade for these guys. Got a bunch of 3P bulbs stashed away, so I guess I could put them into service, but I recently started playing around with more modern flashlights and feel that there are better ergonomics available, aside from the obvious improvements from the current generation LED technology.

I expect that time has passed the 3P by, but it seems a shame to let them go to waste.

My primary "middle of the night" light is a 9Z. Would the R2 drop-in conversion be a good choice for that application?

Thank for any advice.

Pictures have to be 800x600 or smaller, you'll have to resize your pic.

For the 3P, Malkoff might make you a M30 drop-in for it. There have been a few made to my knowledge.

As for the 9Z, you have probably seen this thread.

The drop-in with the Cree XR-E R2 from DX would work. But for a Bump-in-the-night light you might want something that is probably more reliable.
