I'm having this thought that's making me chuckle.
I have a couple of extra MC-E's.
I have a pre X-2 Minewt that I'll probably never use again.
See where this is going? I can trim a 20mm pcb easily enough, and I can use the existing screw holes to hold it down in the body. Plenty of unused real estate on this pcb for to make little holes:

I think I can build the garage-band rectifier into the space behind the emitter, and run it from my Dynamo hub.
Ledil's LM1 optic will fit if I can reduce the OD a bit. Has anyone ever taken one of those out of it's holder? Or, does anyone else know of a 20mm optic for the MC-E that's a really tight spot?
