I am looking for a light to jog with.

I want something very small, lite and powerful.

I have a SF G2L for general home use.

I am going to buy a holster for it - but i am not sure its jogging material.

I was also thinking about a Fenix P2D CE Premium Q5 to chuck in my pocket.

Thoughts? Recommendations?

JMBNaples,

I use my L2D-CE when running at night, I know it's larger than you want, but it's plenty bright which I like when away from home a few miles at night. I have had some trouble with dogs, but not for a few years, but figure with the 2 cell, I can always wedge the light in the dogs mouth or something.

I find it easier to grip then my L1D-CE when wearing gloves. I may try some O-rings over the L1D for better gripability :shakehead (new word), or better yet get a P2D-Q5 :twothumbs

I know the road and sidewalk pretty well, and have to traverse some bad sections, and know where it's smooth and/or ample street lighting, so I don't keep the light on continously. When crossing or near a main road I'll use the strobe and point it downward so I can be seen better. :candle:

I also have a led blinking strobe I sometimes use like the original of these. I also have a reflective vest, but don't wear it much.

Hope you find a light that works out, I bet the P2D will be great!

Not sure this was much help, but figured I'd let you know what I use. Let us know what you get.

I was using my Streamlight Strion or HDS EDC 60 to run with, partly on the sidewalk, mostly on a dirt road. I wouldn't go with anything smaller because your hand will close around it, blocking the light--for example, an Arc AAA would be too small in my opinion.

If it were a choice between your G2L and Fenix P2D (which I also have), I would choose the G2L every time.

Personally I prefer to have my hands free, so I use and have a head lamp if I think I'll need it for more than few minutes at a time. My current primary running light is a Balck Diamond Xenix IQ w/ a SSC emitter mod. For short period use or occassional use, something like a LOD CE is pretty easy to stash and pull out if needed.

If you run with others, what really works great is a mix of hand-held and head mounted lights, because the varied sources give you better depth perception and fewer shadowed areas.
