Good people,

I am just curious:

I have seen and own flashlights made in America, and a bunch made in Asia. Anywhere else?

Are there noteworthy light producers in Europe? England? Germany? Russia/former East Block? Middle Earth?

Cheers

Petzl headlamps are made in France.

At least some of 'em.

And, let's not forget the Eveready Dolphin 6-volt (4-F cell)
waterproof, floating lantern.

Designed (and made ?) in Australia !

Design office only. Eveready stopped making anything in Australia years ago. In the cae of the Dolphin, production shifted during the Makr 3 era.

Other torches lasted a bit longer, but it was all over by about 1995.

The only Australian-made torch I know of is the Dashlite.

I think Longbow was made in Singapore. Not sure though.

Yep. Description from when they existed: "Longbow Gear is a division of Light 10, LLC, the North American distributor of advanced, innovative lighting products manufactured by Light 10 Pte Ltd of Singapore"

For another 'atypical' Asian country, there is also Amilite in South Korea.

And I'm not sure if they actually make their products there, but WiseLED is based in Denmark.

Besides others already mentioned, all other brands I'm currently aware of are either from the US or from China/HongKong/Taiwan.

LiteFlux is from Taiwan I think... and most people in the west see Taiwan as different from China.
Amlite is from Korea, as is JiL and I think both are manufactured in Kora but I'm not certain.
I'm sure I'm forgetting o couple other manufacturers that haven't been listed too.

Jil-Lite and I think Amilite are made in Korea. I've seen a few lights out of Germany but they are rare to see here in the U.S. Gatlights are made out of the Netherlands I believe.

Are Barbolights made in Spain?
Yes, that seem to be correct.

Which ones?

It appears that just about all of the LED Lensers are manufactured in China nowadays, although the designing and such is done in Germany. I looked into Coast/Zweibrüder further, and confirmed that Zweibrüder has a large (200,000+ sq ft, 600+ workers) factory in China for these. I found an HR site at www.led-lenser.cn with a bunch of photos, and an English description at nagu.yangjiangchina.com , along with various corroborating references on other sites, such as http://www.ledco.co.uk/index_products.asp .

I see that  - didn't Lumencraft originally start out of the Netherlands or Switzerland? Maybe it is the statement on their web site: "precision machined by Swiss craftsman" that made me think that. I do remember a discussion about sending a Gatlight back to somewhere in Europe for an upgrade - maybe it was a dealer there?
