Since I received a bunch of 14500s I have been looking for some lights to test. I bought the batts for a different project. I am going through some of the listings on DX but sometimes they say the voltage range, and sometimes they don't. Sometimes they show what looks like a AA sized battery in the picture of a light light I know takes 123s (I think they do it for size comparison?)
So if a few people could just shout out lights they have (and like) that take 3v 14500s, or both 1.5 and 3v AA sized batts, much appreciated.

Usually, DX will detail which lights run on AA 1.5v or 3.7V 14500. I would not put a 14500 in light that did not state that it accepts one in the specs. The higher voltage may fry the board. There have been reports of this problem with the Jetbeam C-LE. Alternatively, a L1D will lose it's low/med settings wil a fully charged 14500.

Also, lights that accept 14500 are intended to run bright & hot and they may not run very well on a AA 1.5V. I have one of these 4 mode CREE 14500 lights and it is very bright , but it does not even turn on with a 1.5V AA.

thanks for the DX recommendation. I see that some of them do spec the voltage. But with DX, I like to hear CPFrs experience before ordering and waiting a month.

If you're not dead set on using those 14500s (when you say "3V 14500", I'm guessing that you mean 3.7V Li-Ions) in an LED flashlight, here's a suggestion: Get a Minimag, TL-3 bulb, and Auroralite Hotwire Kit from Lighthound. Now THAT'S a sleeper.

The brightest I have is the Jetbeam MKIIx. Runs on a 14500(3.7v) or AA(1.5v).

Jetbeam MK IIx, Rexlight 2.0, Ultrafire C3, and the six-mode (with beacon) Jetbeam C-LE all do fine with 3.7V 14500 batteries. I learned the hard way not to use the higher voltage with one 5-mode (with memory) C-LE and one DX X.V. The 14500 lights are a lot brighter, but the AA SSC-P4 MTE at DX comes close.

The Dexlight is awesome on a 14500. It's an awesome light any way you look at it but really is amazing on 14500's - and built to run on them. the Rexlight also runs on them but not as bright on high. And I don't trust the Rexlight seller much - YMMV.
