Hi guys,
I finally finished up a proto McCapsule for the LongBow. Since I am by nature a lazy person, I used a PM6 module for a basis of this prototype. This saved me a fair amount of time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I had to remove a fair amount of material as well as re-thread the part. The finished part does work well though. For the proto, I used a BB700 coupled with a Lux III.
In comparison to the stock capsule, I got the following relative lux readings (approximately 28" to meter):
Stock head and capsule: 1100 lux
Stock head and BB700 capsule: 2140 lux
PR-T head and BB700 : 3980 lux
I also measured the BB700 with stock head and PR-T head on the "Low" level and got 200 and 360 lux, respectively.
I was surprised to see such a jump in lux from the stock head to the PR-T head but upon consideration, I think this is due to the fact that I didn't have to shorten the reflector in this case. On the McCapsule, the shoulder above the LED sink plane is ~.096" which was optimized for the PR whereas on the stock capsule, this shoulder is more like .155" above the LED sink plane. Since the optic in the stock head is fixed within the head, it works equally as well with a lower shoulder on the capsule as this shoulder does not define any stops or geometric relationships within the assembly. My next step is to draw up a dimensioned part from what I have learned from the proto and then see about maybe getting some of these made for the shoppe since there does seem to be some interest. I also plan to get a quote on the LongBow PR-T head.
I have received a few PM's and E-mails about this so again the lazy solution is to just post about it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Oh yeah, Beam Shots and run times; Count on it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nana.gif
