Hi guys,

I finally finished up a proto McCapsule for the LongBow. Since I am by nature a lazy person, I used a PM6 module for a basis of this prototype. This saved me a fair amount of time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I had to remove a fair amount of material as well as re-thread the part. The finished part does work well though. For the proto, I used a BB700 coupled with a Lux III.

In comparison to the stock capsule, I got the following relative lux readings (approximately 28" to meter):

Stock head and capsule: 1100 lux
Stock head and BB700 capsule: 2140 lux
PR-T head and BB700 : 3980 lux

I also measured the BB700 with stock head and PR-T head on the "Low" level and got 200 and 360 lux, respectively.

I was surprised to see such a jump in lux from the stock head to the PR-T head but upon consideration, I think this is due to the fact that I didn't have to shorten the reflector in this case. On the McCapsule, the shoulder above the LED sink plane is ~.096" which was optimized for the PR whereas on the stock capsule, this shoulder is more like .155" above the LED sink plane. Since the optic in the stock head is fixed within the head, it works equally as well with a lower shoulder on the capsule as this shoulder does not define any stops or geometric relationships within the assembly. My next step is to draw up a dimensioned part from what I have learned from the proto and then see about maybe getting some of these made for the shoppe since there does seem to be some interest. I also plan to get a quote on the LongBow PR-T head.

I have received a few PM's and E-mails about this so again the lazy solution is to just post about it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Oh yeah, Beam Shots and run times; Count on it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nana.gif

Wow Don, very nice!

Doesn't exactly look like a lazy mod to me, but if you say so...

"Oh yeah, Beam Shots and run times; Count on it!"

Be watching for them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Don /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif, it is overdue that you finally accept your duty to do beamshots and runtime tests ... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin07.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif
It is such a satisfying thing to do ... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Bernhard,

My dentist ripped me a new one yesterday for not taking the time to floss (it's going to cost me too! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif ). As to duty, I think I'd like to find the time to floss before I take the time to do beam shots or runtimes! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I *should* cut back on the time I spend on CPF as well but you guys are too much fun!

Thanks Kevin! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

This would be a nice to have.
Great work as always Don.

Oh Don ... "dentist" ... argh! ... this is one of those things I am really afraid of ... and I wasn't there for 10 years now ... makes me shiver even more when I think of this friendly man ... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif
You have my best wishes!

BTW ... cool mod you made there ! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Is the Longbow compatible with the e-series / McLux lights?

Bernhard,

No compatability whatsoever. I think Leo and team did a nice job of merging the McLux/ Arc size and style with elements of their own, SF's and of course the PM6 module. The result is a modular platform that has it's own threads and mating geometries.

Well you know you can count ME in on anything you do, Don!

You are the extreme mod genius! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/clap.gif

McGizmo, you never cease to amaze us. Another genuflect is called for /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes ,This is most excellent! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gifI am ready for one.

Don,You Said you check it on low level. Are you going to have some kind of hi/low switch built in?

Don,

No problem you can send me this modified Longbow with my 6W UV LED, like this you have to go to the post office only once for international shipping /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crackup.gif

Very nice, I am interested naturally always in your modifications. If there remains one, I am a buyer /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif

**edited** And if you send it to me, I could post run time plot and some beam shots /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif
