I'm looking for a driver that's designed to work with a single recheargeable or primary 123 li-ion cell. (3 or 3.7 volts). Preferably not so many modes. 3 would be perfect (low-mid-high). I will be powering a Cree P4 led.

Im now using a 19 mode driver, that's designed for 3.7V and higher, so it doesn't work well with primaries and partially depleted recheargeables.

If those drivers don't exist, I'll settle for a single mode, low current (350mA or something) driver. As long as it's well regulated, there's too little energy in a 123 cell to waste it in a poor driver :)

I've been playing with the DX sku 7882 (KD 3150) driver and I like it a lot.

It's a boost/buck so suitable for your application, I've found it regulates well, it's constant voltage not current, which people don't tend to like round here but still it produces constant brightness which is all i care about. It has a group with 3 modes low>med>hi, it also has adjustable output and decent efficiency at reasonable drive levels.

It also gives a very low low ~30ma while have a very high high....adjustable up to about 1.4a (if needed).

I forgot to mention that I've only got a few mm of depth to play with.

I'll check out that flupic board, it seems like it would do what I want :)

The FluPIC doesn't have a height robbing coil so your tight space constraints won't be an issue.
