Is there a certain flashlight that stands out using the MC-E emitter? I think this will be my next purchase and I want to get the best performer out there.

The only MC-E light I currently have is the Lumapower D-Mini EX. I love it, but it's probably not what you're looking for if you want "the best performer"
From all I've been reading on here, the two top MC-E lights are the Jetbeam and the Neofab.

These are amongst the most popular MC-E light in CPF are:

TK40: Great output
Jetbeam M1X: Great throw
Olight M30: Floodiest

Take a strong look at the Jetbeam. I believe it has the longest run time in regulation on multiple cell configurations (3xRCR123 and 2x18650). It is also the brightest (lux and lumens) according to Selfbuilt's review, check that out for sure! :D

The Jetbeam M1X is a beautiful light - well made and outstanding performance. Doesn't have the highest output of the MC-E lights, but does have the greatest 'throw'. (and the spill is very useful also)

I got one two weeks ago and love it. I enjoy the Jetbeam Military Series User Interface of 1. user settable mode and 2. Maximum

Run it with the extension tube on 2 x 18650 or without on 2 x 18500.

Out of the 3 i suggested earlier, M1X actually has the highest output and throw. And in my opinion, the best user interface as well.

Should I even consider the Dereelight DBS? Some of the beamshots I have seen look pretty impressive as I do like that combination of throw and flood.

DBS is nice, but you need to run it on either 2 x RCR-123 (alone) or 2 x 18650 (with extension tube). Can't throw in CR123 in a pinch. The Jetbeam allows 3 x 123, 2 x 18500 (alone) or 2 x 18650 / 4 x CR123 with extension tube.

Fit and finish on the Jetbeam is far superior as well. I just sold my DBS MC-E shortly after purchasing an M1X...

Yes, there is... Get a JetBeam M1X! It's the finest, brightest, furthest-throwing MC-E light you can buy right now.

Nope, not true. You can get the 1xCR123 extension and run the DBS MC-E on 3xCR123 or 2x18500. Or get the 18650 extension and run it on 2x 18650 batteries.

what, does Dereelight still exist?
Sorry I forgot about them. As far as I'm concerned, their inferior built quality and obsolete offerings are of no interest to me, but that's just me maybe.

edit: clearly, initial impressions isn't everything. I stand corrected everybody, thank you for the enlightenment.

How do these purpose built lights stack up to the 6p dropins?

Yep, probably just you. That's probably one of the most ignorant statements I've read on this forum.

Sorry if it offended you in anyway

They might fair better as a host. I suppose their reflector design isn't obsolete. =)

The P60 is a 26mm lamp assembly, so they are very small compared to these large reflectored-lights made for long range tasks. A P60 drop-in simply can't compete against a dedicated thrower, especially an MC-E drop-in, they are 100% floody with very little throw. They are superb for indoors and closer tasks, though

Apologies to all! Toaster - you are correct. Forgot about the new extension tube...

The DBS is still a very versatile light with its ability to swap reflectors, pills, put the aspheric head on it, etc.

I just couldn't justify keeping my DBS MC-E after getting the Jetbeam and finding its fit/finish, UI and overall desirability to be so high.

...But I still have a DBS with R2 pill and a CL1H that I will never sell - keep them for future upgradeability!!

I think the modular and upgradeable design of the Deerelight should keep it in your list. I'd much rather pay to replace only a new LED emitter when the next thing comes along than spend another $150 on a second light.

Great info!

I need an edc flooder and was thinking 6p might be a bit bulky

Anyone have experience with a more pocketable 1X18650 form factor?
