I have browsed a bit on here already and this place seems like a wealth of Info. I'm on my cell now so I cant browse much as of yet.

I'm looking for a pen style light. I want pretty much all flood but I need It bright because I'm looking under trains. I would like to have it a cool white color. Price, maybe upto 45-55 with battery(s) and charger.

I could also do slight DIY too. And any mods that should be done?

Hello and welcome! I have a Fenix LD05 just sitting in a drawer not getting used. PM me if you are interested after researching it. The tint on mine is more white than the beamshot in the link posted above.

I guess my terminology is WAY off haha. I did not want a pen light ( didnt know there was something so tiny to produce that much light )

I guess I'm interested in a slim style light. Maybe 18650 or something a tad biggeR?

4sevens preon lights seems good, uses 1 or 2 AAA batteries. has wide spill as well.

also the zebralight, i work on planes, and i usually use it clipped on my shirt between the buttons, or in my front shirt pocket. for hands free work. and it provides a true flood beam.
its also a headlamp. comes with a headband. lightweight and secure, and easily adjustable .

there are 3 version that i know of, using 1 AA cell, 1 cr123a cell, or 1 18650 cell.

www.4sevens.com

I bought four of them for family members for christmas. Bought the black aluminum with titanium head and tailcap...really nice light! Very low low and very high high make it optimal for many conditions. About the size of a sharpie marker in length, a little thinner. Great light!

Sold where? thx.

i got my zebralights from illuminationgear.com
good service, and free shipping, also good price, and theres a 8% discount coupon code for CPF users.

the 4sevens preons are from 4sevens.com same good service, free shipping and 8% off. code is CPF8 i think
4sevens also sells zebralights but its more pricey.

today i had to change a tire, and my zebralight came in very useful clipped to my shirt. (i work the night shift)

sorry for posting again.

but you might want to check out the quark AA-2 and quark 123-2, also from 4sevens.com

at work i always carry my quark 123-2, and zebralight. and sometimes a third light.

the quark 123-2 is very small, and very bright for its size. can easily and comfortably fit into my pocket. but uses cr123a batteries. i use rechargeables because i use my lights daily, and like knowing that my lights will get me through the night without a problem.

the quark AA-2 uses 2 AA batteries, its a bit longer and not as bright, but im sure its bright enough.

both lights have the same beam patterns, which is a wide hotspot, with wide spill. its very useful.

if you need more throw, the R2 emitter will do that, and are cheaper.

also i recommend the tactical version quarks.

I have the JETBeam JET-lll PRO ST and think it would fit your purposes perfectly. I love the light. Small, powerful, takes an 18650 or cr123's, 3 programmable output levels, and it's a JETBeam. You can get 12% off using the CPF discount code CPFSAVE12 at checkout.

Here is a great review of the light....

Look at post #5. He was using the wrong terminology. He did not want a pen light, but something like an 18650 sized light. Read all the posts....It helps you make educated and informed statements...:poke::nana:
Great recommendation, I should have read more carefully. I took a bad fall on my driveway this morning and hit hard on my back and head, my vision is blurred now and Iam headed to the doctor. Thnaks Bond

hope your joking, but if not, hope youre OK and feel better.

I love my 4sevens Preon II. It's a perfect penlight, and very useful. I do a lot of work on computers, and find it perfect for that. it is very bright at 160 lumens out the front (meaning the LED is making more than 160 lumens at its source).

+1. I recently purchased a 4 7's Preon II. All three light modes are useful and it carries well in my dress shirt pocket.

MrOneEyedBoh,

You may want to change the title of this thread to "Looking for an 18650 size light" or you will keep getting pen light recommendations. Seems a lot of people don't bother to read past the first post...
