Looking for an LED light, similiar to Mag-LED

Ive been doing some reading on the subject, but havent found anything Im inclined to buy, yet. The Mag-LED isnt impressing me, especially with its weak heatsink causing the light output to drop.

Ideally, Im looking for something that can run on D batteries, have some heft to it, and is durable. Id like it to be bright, and an adjustable beam pattern is a plus, but not a must. Any recommendations?

Streamlight Twin-Task-2D comes to mind. Has the option of running forever on 5 LEDs, brighter at 10 LEDs, or a xenon.
The LEDs don't give off a great penetrating beam, but it's useful nonetheless.

If you're willing to go with C cell, then I'd have to go with the SL Propolymer 3C Luxeon. Great light.
