Looking for good power meter

I want to start figuring out how much power my various devices are using. The standard seems to be the Kill A Watt. Are there other better choices?

I use an old ratshack (Micronta model 22-161) 7 range AC Volt-Ampmeter which can either be fastened around a wire such as in a water heater, or the item being tested can be plugged directly into the wire harness. HTH.
