Hi all. This is my first topic of my own, so please take it easy on me.

As the title shows, I'm looking for some lithium rechargeable batteries that fit P3D. I heard that some batteries are too big and very tight. Then I searched for proper battery and concluded http://www.lighthound.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1155 is certainly the one......but I'm planning to buy at DX.

So the question is:
is trustfire/ultrafire proper to use?
is there any other appropriate batteries at DX? (over 600mah, with protect circuit)

Though these may be well debated/asked topics, I wanna get clear answer.

My P3D CE works well with 1 x protected UF 17670. I assume this was not a q5 as this was not in the market when I bought the light.

The same batt was not happy in a P3D R100 which I tested. The Turbo mode kept flickering.

Yes.

Note that capacity for all WhateverFire RCR123/16340/17335 batteries on DX is overstated. Expect it to be somewhere inbetween 500 and 600mah, even for the "880mah" ones. But hey, they are dirt cheap...

Keep in mind that rechargeables are only rated for about half the capacity of primaries. Using 3.6v cell can help to offset that somewhat since the higher voltage = less current draw, but you're still not going to get a whole lot of runtime. Mine is an EDC but I really don't use it all that much so Primaries work well for me.

I'm grateful for your replies. I don't mind shorter run-time and mine is also P4, so there are four ways to go....including primaries.
Well, I'll reflect a little more on the best choice.
Thanks.:thanks:

Personally, if you're not changing batteries often, say more than once or twice a month, I would say go with primaries. But that's just me.

trustfire/ultrafire Rcr-123 is to long for the Fenix P3D, only the AW's Rcr-123 work in the Fenix P3D.

Thanks - that's what I thought. Save me the hassle of trying them out and returning when they don't meet the spec. Also pretty much confirms my decision to go for an L2D rather than a P3D for a longer runtime on rechargeables, despite preferring the shorter, fatter shape of the P3D for handlebar mounting.
