I have 60 energizer lithiums, and need a light to run them in. I have a Nitecore D20, but that says not to run lithiums in it. I want a Jetbeam JET-I, but that also says not to run 2 lithiums in it. I have enough Fenix lights, and don't like having to run through SOS and Strobe (I HATE SOS modes) in the menu, it is a total turnoff. I like the single AA JET-I's, but can't figure out the difference between them. I am familiar with the IBS system because I EDC a JET-III ST and love it. Please reccomend a light like this:

Uses AA (musht be able to take lithiums)
Pocket clip is a big plus, but not a must
Q5
Around $60
Nice menu system

Thank you.

Rechargeable Li-Ion batteries would probably kill them since Li-Ion batteries run at 3.7V. :poof: Primary lithiums (such as the Energizer Advanced Lithium and Ultimate Lithium cells) run at ~1.5V and should work fine, though.

I do not have a Nitecore D20. However I do have a Nitecore DI. I believe they mean you cannot run Lithium rechargable batteries(14500). They are 4.2 volts when fully charged and two would be 8.4 volts which would kill your light. Energizer Lithiums, L91 batteries should be fine to run in your D20. They are 1.5-1.7 volts.

I recently puchased an EagleTac P10A which uses one AA. It is simple, click on or use momentary one, twist the bezel for high, twist the other way for low. High is 120 lumens. It has a clip, though I took mine off. And it has a rather attractive stainless steel ring around the end of the bezel. for the $58, I think it was a good deal.

LF5XT if you have about $10 more. I like the UI as its totally configurable.

The Nitecore D10 or a Jetbeam would be my second.

Eagletac also makes the P10A2, which uses 2 AA batteries. It is about $60 as well.

What is the circular silver looking emblem type thing on the head of that light?

Actually, the Q5 version of the LF5XT cost only $62, list per LiteFlux.com. (The R2 version is no longer being made) I agree that the LF5XT is a great single cell AA light worthy enough to head the list because of it has the smoothest beam of all the lights listed, along with a very flexible interface.

What about the JETbeam E3P? Is it durable? Bright? Efficient?

Would I be better off going with one of the standard JETbeam lights with IBS?

Well, it is stainless steel so I expect it to be quite durable. I have both the E3P and E3P Q3-5A and I find them both to be plenty bright for indoor and outdoor use. I prefer the tint of the Q3-5A version. Not sure about the efficiency question, though.

I do run my E3P Q3-5A using an Energizer Advanced Lithium cell without issue so I can tell you from first hand experience that lithiums will work fine in them. :)

E3P is fine if you are ok with a simple, two mode light and do not mind the extra heft that comes with a stainless steel body. Also, I personally think the E3P has a nice, sleek looking design.

Otherwise, the I.B.S. lights offer more flexibility.

Looking for a nice 1xAA flashlight

Please recommend me a Q5 flashlight that runs off a single AA battery. I have a large supply of primary lithium AA batteries I'd like to use up. I am looking for a nice small package, I like spill more than spot, and I like a good UI (not Fenix due to the SOS mode, I'm on strike). I like the Nitecore D10 (I have the D20 and like it). Does the D10 turn on when you shake it like the D20 does? I also like the JETbeam, but don't know which one to buy. Is there any disadvantage to the JET-I MK over the JET-I PRO? Any other suggestions, I'd like to keep it around $60...

You can pick up a Nitecore Defender Infinity for just $50 from 4Sevens here. Has the best UI imho.

Thanks deranged_coder. I can turn on my D20 with a light bump with the palm of my hand. It would be the perfect 2xAA if it were not for that flaw...

Well, I just tried smacking my D10 down pretty hard into the palm of my hand and after several tries it still will not accidentally come on.

I am speculating that the smaller mass of the D10 compared to the D20 makes it less prone to accidental activation by bumps...

I've spent 2 days looking into a good 1xAA for EDC. I have a Fenix E01 on my keychain but I wanted something multi-level for pocket use.

It was down to a Nitecore D10, NDI, and Liteflux L5XT. I finally chose the D10.
