Lost it early December about 2 hours from home, in the forest, cutting down our Christmas tree while it was snowing. I either lost it while cutting the tree down in an awkward position. Putting the tree on top of our SUV, or while putting on or taking off the chains to get out up a hill from where we 4x4'd into get the tree.

I got it right after they came out and it was my daily carry and work(IT) flashlight. I ran lifepo4 RCR's in it. It is/was an awesome light.

So...how is everyone liking the S1R II as its replacement so far?

I never owned a S1. I have S1R's and S1R II's and like them a lot. The S1R Gen I AKA Turbo S should be the same feel and operation as a S1 with the addition of magnetic charging and more output. The Gen II is a all new light, mostly looks IMO. I'm old school and like the looks of the Gen I lights better, you may not agree. Either will work as a replacement for the lost S1. Keep in mind the magnetic tail cap can be a good or bad thing dependent on use. I do not throw my keys and light in the same pocket so no problem for me. On paper

I have the S1R ii in titanium, and it's a great little light. Small enough to comfortably EDC, but but that 1000lm is super bright when you need it.

I have several of all generations and believe the S1r II is an excellent replacement. It has the turbo power if you want it but since I use the lower settings I find the runtimes excellent.

I've been using it daily for about a month and a half and it's been pretty great. The beam profile is good for a general purpose with a mix of throw and spill. The timer feature, on-board charging, and tail magnet are all surprising useful.

My only real gripes are that the 6500K and 70 CRI is harsh. A warmer emitter with better color rendering would be a significant improvement. High and turbo levels are too close together. It would be more useful if high were set nearer the light's sustainable output level 150~300 lumen.

If I lost my S1R Baton II, it would be hard to decide between buying another one and Zebralight's new SC64c LE, which is just a little bigger:

I have a pair of S1R turbo and a pair of S1R II and I now carry the S1R II constantly. The II is slightly smaller and the interface is more friendly, in my opinion. There is also a charge indicator on the later, though i must admit to rarely needing it as i alternate lights everyday. I can't say enough good things about these lights, but if you liked the turbo you will love the S1R II Baton.

P.S. i have an S1mini in bead blasted titanium that is the ultimate finish as far as I'm concerned. It was a high cri light and i loved it, though i think the new titaniums are too warm for my liking.
