I called up Photon yesterday concerning a light that I ordered and hadn't recieved. What I was told was there were two batches the first batch was the pre-order where some faults were found with the light such as poor threading and weak battery contacts. they had these and some other fixes fixed with the second batch; and are waiting delivery of the second batch so they can send them out to those that had ordered.
it kinda sucks that I was in batch 1. I feel that I was a paying beta tester so they can make the rest of the lights better which is good for the rest of the lights. for those of us that bought the original pre-order we bought a sub-standard light for alot of money.

Given the multitude of little LEDs, is the Proton mostly a flood? Can anyone compare the beam to some other well-known AA, Fenix or whatever? thanks

If you compare the LUX numbers and beamshots it's obvious that the Proton is essentially just a floodlight. If you're looking for throw, you might want to consider other options.

Will it work better on NiMh? I have 2 2300 Mah Sony Batteries and wondering if ill see better regulation.
