I for myself did never conclude that "women cannot appreciate high quality flashlights" but I sincerely *do* think there is a difference between men and women regarding this. Most .. no, make that *all* .. women I know really do not care much about high-tech gadgets like an ARC LS. They think they're nice and all that, but they wouldn't want one, esp. not after they learn about the price - so my conclusion is that there is a discrepancy between the genders in this matter. Just a neutral observation, nothing else.

Unless the woman is an engineer.

When I was a mechanical engineer, I worked with women who loved hi-tech gadgets but now that I've switched to nursing/health care, I don't know any women like that anymore either...

men and women are different, in biology as well as in spirit. no doubt about that, even if the "women's rights organizations" wnat us to believe otherwise.
It is not a bad thing, it simply is. Nothing bad about it.

A woman will buy something she doesn't need right now because its on sale. A man OTOH will pay more than an item's worth for something he needs right now. I've personally seen this behavior in my wife and myself.

As for justifying the cost of my ARC, I just point out that I bet they, or their spouse, have a piece of jewelry that is as expensive, and more likely more expensive than this item that I carry everyday, actually has a utilitarian purpose, and performs it better than anything else like it. Try and justify the cost of a nice pair of diamond earrings to me. If you can accept the concept of expensive jewelry, then you can't criticize someone for paying what they do for an ARC.
 
I happen to be good friends with a young woman who's idea of a good time is going to Best Buy and playing with phones, PDAs, and other gadgets. Normal computers bore her.

Right now, she's a 50% flashaholic. She shows everyone the neat flashlights she has, is always having me show people mine, and gives Arc AAAs as presents. She thinks no young lady should be without a flashlight at any time, but she still sees them as costing double what they are worth. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Doesn't mean she doesn't EDC an AAA and E2e, though. Women have the advantage of a purse. She could carry an M6 in one of them.

Did I miss something somewhere???

What is the normal current rating of the Arc4? What about boost?

How does this compare to the LS5? Will it be the same just with a different LED? Or will it boost to a different current rating?

Will this boost in the Arc4 and LS5 be settable in the software so that we could boost it a "little" more if we wanted?
 
I have been looking around here and now I'm wondering what the current estimations is for

1) when one will be able to ship the first Arc5 ?

2) what differs the ARc5 from the Arc4? (weight, size, levels etc...) I know about the difference in the LED.

3) What are the current rating of waterproofnes for the Arc4+ that can be ordered now?


Hoping Peter wil lhave time for an answer.
