Can someone tell me the expected dates of availability for the LS4 and LS5?

I know the LS4 is supposedly close (i.e. like Feb or something right?) but I have no idea of what the LS5 would be or when it will be out.

from what I can gather, the LS5 will have the same type of clicky setup/configuration as the LS4 but will use a 5W instead of a 4W..... is that correct?

If so, will the LS5 just provide a brighter burst mode than the LS4 or will it be "brighter" in every aspect? Will it have longer runtimes etc? Probably still too early to tell.

What about optics? Will it be different than the LS4? I am trying to see if I purchase the LS4 or just wait until the LS5 comes along.

I think I am getting the AAA,AA, and LSHF-P for Xmas so I am unsure as what to do. I see the LS4 as maybe replacing them all in a single light and then the LS5 replace the LS4.....what would you guys do? Buy both is not an option when these lights will be in the >$150 range. That type of purchase will not go past the "GATEKEEPER" very easily. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
The LS4 actually uses a 1watt LED

5W version will be brighter, with a wider beam. Giving off more overall light, but might not throw as far as the tighter beam of the 1W LS4.

The 5W would have less runtime on the same battery configuration.
 
hmmm, didn't know the LS4 was a 1watt configuration. This could conceivably change my decision now... I will have to find a way to get them both... will be hard but I am going to have to find a way. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the info. the releases are going to be about 6+ months apart anyway, right?, so I could easily get both.

I guess time will tell.

Do you guys still see the LS4 as replacing the need for the AAA, AA and LSHF-P series of lights. You can acheive everything with the LS4 that you can with the others. Is that correct?

The LS4 will probably replace everything else, but the AAA will always have a place on my keychain /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
The LS4 or LS5 will be my first Arc LS,
Might as well start on top! I would assume the LS5 is a double 123a and the LS4 is a single 123a. Size will play an important roll with the two.

I hope the LS5 is a single 123a.

I'm waiting patiently for the LS5 because the current LS are not bright enough for me. I think the LS5 will be the mother of all LEDs.

Will we see 2 grades of LS5, standard and premium?

Will the LS5 come with 18 calibrated brightness levels like the LS4? I think that is too many levels.
 
I second the hope for a single 123 for the LS5, at least as an option. Though I like the idea of the many brightness levels.
Once you set your desired primary and secondary brightness, you never have to think about the other levels. It's better than the manufacturer choosing for me, and it doesn't take away from the useability.
 
I can see both points with all the levels, but I tend to agree with SRue. After I played with the flash simulator, I decided that I had to have one of these lights.
 
The LS5 will be a 5 Watt and i 'm sure that will use 2 x 123 batt.
A single 123 do not have enough "juice" for a 5 Watt light, belive me :

LS4 1Watt-led at 0.2-2.5 Watt 1x123
LS5 5Watt-led at 0.2-?? Watt 2x123

and i will be FORCED to buy both /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
 
The default "out of the box" configuration of the LS5 will be with a 1x123 pack. You know how I feel about EDC?

The other packs are optional.

Hmmm, I think this means that like most of you, I will probably be ending up with an LS4 and an LS5 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif

Too many choices (but a good thing!). 2x123 optional pack sounds great (to use with Pilas).
 
And when we start selling the LS5, people will still wonder why we took a 5 watt emitter and undrove it with a single 123 cell.

(LS5 + 1x123 power pack + 2x123 power pack) is better than (LS5 + 2x123 power pack). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
The LS5 will be a multilevel light so the 1x123 power pack is a usefull item.
The more options the better, i apologize for my previous post, sorry /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
