Hi everybody, do you know if there area any new emitters that are a direct swap for a luxeon V? I know the lux V's voltage requirements are approx double a normal emitter, so I guess a cree would be out of the question without modifying the converter.

It's time to upgrade one of my lux V lights!

Just buy a brighter binned luxV?

Right, that's the way to go. I have also a Nuwai, type ALX352-L, which had the same weak output.
I swapped the Led and wowww.......:

The stock LuxV was a V-bin, very blueish, now it's a WX0S - absolutely perfect and veeeery bright. Now on medium stage brighter than on high before the mod.

Best regards

I just sent payment for a new WWOS for my Nuwai ALX-253L... it has a puke green V bin in it now.. so I'm looking forward to the upgrade..

In theory, if the light you are modding uses current regulation, and the guts can handle a wide output range, then you could drop just about any LED you want in there that can handle ~700ma. just depends on the beast. I'm sure there are some tests you could do to determine if the electronics will automatically drop the voltage to the appropriate level for a lower voltage LED...

I have an (or at least what I believe to be) and XXOS in it, its a beautiful light with ajust a hint of a donut. this is a U2.

Since the datas measured at the Led are the same with 2xprimarys (6V) and one RCR (3,7V), the light uses a kind of step-up converter which is build to drive one LuxV with its higher vf.
So I think that a Led with a vf in the range of 3-3,5 V will be cooked.

Best regards

Thanks for the suggestions, I migh do what Tom did and just buy a higher binned lux V, made a massive difference to his light.

+1

I've read this many times before and has put my U2 mod on hold unless one of our moders can fit 2 Cree's in there..

that would work :)
