Mag Hotwire question

Fresh off the charger, 4.18V IMR26500 will be fine, Thats what I use in its mate. BTW, its not a AW softstart, but rather a soft start thermistor, Digi-Key Part Number 570-1077-ND, built into the Kiu socket.

Did you add an AW soft start switch? The sales thread you linked says that the light uses a (NTC) thermistor for soft start.

Are there other bulbs I can use with these batteries that will decrease output a bit and extend runtime?

For 1274 power and lumens data, see this.

The 1274 is probably about a 22W bulb when driven by 2xLi-ion. If we assume that 2x26500 runs at 7.4V and 2.3Ah, the capacity calculates to 17Wh. Thus, a 22W bulb could last about 40 min.

The GE 787 spec claims 100 hr life at 6V. That doesn't bode well for overdriving at 7+V (2xLi-ion), unless that filament life spec is very conservative.

I built a Mag C Hotwire with WA1111 bulb, bipin socket bored for 2 26650 IMR cells. I have the AW soft start switch. No problems. I have flashed WA1111 bulbs on lights with the same cells, but no soft start. I like the 3 levels of the AW switch. It also has a memory function.
